I really want to open an isa and have enought to fill it but i need instant acess to my savings, once my house is built i'll def be looking at an isa.

My mil is giving me a free tree but she's gettinga new kitchen at the moment so i have to wait til she's ready before i can get sorted, we usually have a real tree but this house is too small for one and it saves me buying one, i'll use the old decorations aswell :)

I can't stress about money at those times of years because it's a losing battle and i end up very high strung and then everyones miserible :( so basic savings only :)

Morning all..not too much to report here.
In a bit of a better mood! NSD yesterday, do need to pop to Morrisons today but shouldn't be too painful.

BF treated me to tea at the pub last night which was much appreciated.

Not much else to report other than working on the savings spreadsheet and plan still :D:D

Right...as you probably have picked up on, I am not the best at making decisions but I have managed to come to the decision to save as much as I can for the next few years.

I have made my plan and the accounts that I am going to use, done some quite conservative predictions of potential savings and interest rates etc.

Current situation is that I have just over £60k sat in my easy access savings account where I get quite a good rate of 3.15% but this rate ends in August 2013. I have worked out I will have around £500 excess each month when the bf moves in and starts paying towards living at the flat. Out of this there is an average of £73 per month to cover yearly expenses such as Car insurance, car tax and xmas. (£500 will be split between £300 to Reg saver and £200 to easy access account).

I would like to take a leaf out of tilly's book and try to make next xmas as cost neutral as possible, therefore I also am keeping a track of all Tesco points, nectar points, tcb payment, shop & Scan vouchers, VO vouchers etc as well.

    Plan of action below -

    Open and Fill 2012 / 2013 ISA - NOW

Open First Direct Regular Saver and save £300 per month (8%) - JAN 2013

£200 per month Savings to Easy Access Saver (Yearly expenses and general savings) - JAN 2013

    Open and Fill 2013 / 2014 ISA - APRIL 2013

3.15% Easy Access Rate up - Find new account, possible a 2 year locked one to save rest of money - AUGUST 2013
    2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Grocery challange April: £130.17of £500 target remaining

now need to move on to my targets...

Plugging all the figures and interest rates into spreadsheet shows the total should be as below

    DEC 2013 - £66,056.00
    DEC 2014 - £72,309.38
    DEC 2015 - £78,594.00
    Target...

    DEC 2013 - £66,500.00

    DEC 2014 - £72,500.00

    DEC 2015 - £79,000.00

Not going too mad with my targets as I have only been able to guestimate at interest rates and also have included all savings in calculations so there is very little left to cream off.

    Something to work towards!
