Considering Huawei Ascend G300
If anyone has used one I would like to know of any pro's / Con's. Have you seen / used a better entry level smartphone?
Also did you get it unlocked? I'm considering £99 for phone and unlocked via ebay to use on Orange. It is to replace my HTC Wildfire. I'm a low usage user, like to be able to phone / text / take photos.
I'm 5 months from end of Orange contract and suspectI will move to a sim only deal once contract is up.

I have also been considering it but decided instead on a 2nd hand HTC Desire which go for about £100 on ebay. Also the Samsung Galaxy S also goes for around the same price on ebay. I figure that these handsets in their day were those brands flagship models and are better specced than the G300.0

I may have a look on ebay, I do consider a greater "risk" n that it could be locked at a later date. Of course not all ebayers are scammers, and I am sure the number of phones sold on the site the vast majority don't get locked at a latter date. I just considered it a higher risk of encountering fraud. Was it a business you purchase from on ebay or a private seller?0

I've played with a colleagues one and have to say it looks and feels good. Obviously cant say how it would cope with heavy use but the specs are decent considering the price!0

They're practically identical - http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4594&idPhone2=3115womble12345 wrote: »I have also been considering it but decided instead on a 2nd hand HTC Desire which go for about £100 on ebay. Question. This is a PAYG with Vodaphone. Does this phone have to be unlocked to go onto a Vodaphone (or more specifically, Talkmobile) contract?0 -
Yes it does.0

It's a brilliant phone for the money.
You figured incorrectly. It is just as good as those phones and in fact has more onboard storage, which is a blessing with apps getting ever bigger. The Desire's /data partition is about 160MB, which is borderline useless nowadays.womble12345 wrote: »I figure that these handsets in their day were those brands flagship models and are better specced than the G300.
Varies. Some of them have been unlocked out of the box, some require unlocking.grumpycrab wrote: »Question. This is a PAYG with Vodaphone. Does this phone have to be unlocked to go onto a Vodaphone (or more specifically, Talkmobile) contract?0 -
I'd prob still go with a second had Galaxy S over G300, its older but having DNLA and TV out are a big plus0

I think having a brand new phone with a warranty is a big plus. It's got DLNA,TV out is missing but I don't think that's a big omission for a £100 smartphone.0
