Hey,
Not sure if anyone is still reading here, but my best friend received her order from www.diy-flowers.co.uk last week and they were amazing. She went for the red and ivory roses box. The heads were huge and fluffy! I'm still planning for next sept and looking for some inspiration with regard the centrepieces. Any ideas welcome. Good luck all.0 -

Yes, as we have labour, sundries, tools, rent, rates, tax, wages, petrol...oh yes, and our training & expertise to pay for - then after all that, we might actually be able to make a living for ourselves!!
Try saying to a plumber - I'm only paying you a fiver, cos you've only used a bit of plastic pipe and a couple of nuts & bolts!!0 -

Think you'vve done a lovely job - I am considering the DIY route myself and as, I'm getting married in London, NCGM seems like a good option. Could you just turn up and purchase or did you need to get some kind of card or prove you were a business?
Any tips would be gratefully received.
Thanks,

I'm intending to do the flowers from New Covent Garden market as well. They don't open sundays and it is pretty early in the morning. I think you need to be buying a fair amount, I am sure I read that you can't just turn up and buy a couple of stems. It has to be either bunchs or boxes of each type of flower.
This will be fine for us as I will be making a handtied bouquet for me, two posies for the flowergirls, at least 4 button holes and vases for 10 tables.
Our wedding is on sunday so we will go saturday morning and make them up that day. As they are direct from the supplier they will be plenty fresh enough for the next day as long as they are kept in water."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
I have used foam roses for my table flowers, then added diamonte's, ribbons and fabric butterflies. First time I have tried something like this, I'm quite pleased with them.
Have 4 large and 10 small arrangements to be grouped on the tables
Also used the same roses to make the wands for my flower girls:

Just one fresh rose would look stunning with some small pieces of lavender around the bottom of the head. You could bind it all up with silver or gold wire and tie ribbons around the tatty looking bits! Is a very simple idea, which you can adapt depending upon your creative skills. The stems left long look stylish for adult bridesmaids, but i would suggest a much shorter stem for small flower girls as the stems can bend quite easily!I thought I had come up with a great idea for my bridesmaids. There's a couple of shops in Edinburgh called Napiers who sell bunches of lavender (you can get them in other places, I know I've seen them) for about £5 each. I was going to get them one of these each and tie a nice ribbon round them.
I was in Napiers the other day and had a closer look at them, picking one up. Some of the lavender fell off, hardly any, but I realised that it wouldn't take long for them to be looking pretty bare after being carried about.
Just thought I'd warn anyone who had the same idea. Back to the drawing board!0
