SugarWalsh, are the vases see-through? if not, it won't matter what you use. If you are able to see-through them, have you considered the aquagel beads? I know they won't need the water, but it shouldn't harm them & can look pretty?
I have just purchased 5 packs of these u will need water for them to expand but u drain the excess and they last upto 3 days,im also having artificial flowers:)

Dumb question but I'm not a flower person. (Love saving money though!!) Can the bouquet be done the day before? If I keep the flowers in water will I end up being covered by dripping flowers?

Im not an expert but I did my cousins flowers & am about to do my daughters & I found the best way to keep flowers fresh & watered without dripping water was to have a vase & scrunch up some kitchen roll/loo roll pop into vase poor on a little water then pop your flowers in making sure the bottom of the stems reach the paper store over night in a cool room or fridge as it helps prevent flowers opening to full bloom or if you make the flowers with closed buds & want to make sure they are just at the opening point for the wedding just store them in a warm room.

You can of course make the flowers with a tad longer stem & just nip-trim back to correct length on the day thus cutting off the wet part of stems

  • Thanks for information regarding wedding flowers. You have shared wonderful links, I will definitely follow it for more information.
  • Hmmm, after seeing ebayers charging 30 quid for a bridal gerbera posy with some beargrass in, I am thinking of having a go for myself. All in, I need one bridal posy, 2 either posy or wands or baskets for 2 little ones and 3 buttonholes. If I get adventurous I may do something for our food table. Oh these are artificial btw.

is beargrass fairy easy to work with? I want it to kinda of loop round?

Hi my daughter and I spent yesterday afternoon making bouquets posies etc for her wedding out of wooden roses - £60 for 300 and this is the result - what do you think?

I've got some very bad cameraphone snaps:

Her bouquet! (it still needs a teal ribbon and some bling)

    Lots of flowers!

I've read the thread too and checked out the recommendations and I wanted to get mine from
stores.ebay.co.uk/Sara-Richards as they look really realistic and very affordable.... Unfortunately I want sunflowers ideally or yellow ones other than roses which she doesn't have ....

  • Hi folks I was hoping to do my own (fresh) flowers but with 5 weeks to go I am already getting a bit ill as my disability is playing up & my immune system is not behaving (grr!)

I have looked online a bit for ready-made bouquets (not enough time to get made to order now) but wondered if you ladies & gents had any info, good & bad, on suppliers on ebay & elsewhere!

I am after pink flowers with or without cream/ivory, bridal posy with 3 small matching posies/wands for BMS aged 13,9,4. Any pink shades bar cerise/fuchsia (too dark) really!

Also a floral hair comb I want to use to accessorise a short net pink veil.

Thanks so much in advance, Jools x

Edited to add: I am thinking of grabbing this bargain set, and adding a wee pink flower teddy for the youngest BM - http://www.upsadaisybridalflowers.co.uk/products/bridal-packages-buy-now/pink-ivory Anyone have any experince of this firm? she was very quick to answer my email this morning & seems helpful.
  • I have just seen an advance press release (I work in PR) from the National Gardening Show and they are featuring a "grow your own venue" spot. Pre modern times, the bride and groom traditionally exchanged vows outside and they are covering the creation of a venue (with planted cover) and growing floweers that can also be picked for a bridal bouquet. If you have the space I think this a lovely idea and if you don't then having a relative grow flowers would make a lovely gift.
