Your use of english language is very good actually in parts - don't put yourself down - Is English not your first language?

Have you considered a brush up English and Maths course on the few problem areas you have?

Not all deaf ! You should mind your own business! I am lots worse than these deaf peoples. cannot talk, cannot write and my english rather poor. I cannot fill in the forms etc. The social services had to help me all times.

I had no english, maths or reading at school. nothing at all. My last job the fork lift truck hit me twices because i cannot hear it from behind me.

You can type though, and whilst your English is not the best it is certainly possibly to understand you. The DWP will look at what you can do, and the fact that you can understand and respond to posts on here shows that you certainly can understand a simple message by reading print.

By all means appeal, but it is quite clear that you do not fulfil the given criteria. I do think you would be better focusing on improving your basic skills rather than your benefit entitlement.

English isnt the first language of most people born Deaf or Totals, they learn BSL as a first langage and written English as a second.

Yes Sunnyone - But I was referring to the overusage of (s) at the end and other traits.

I actually think their English is rather good (you should see some application forms I recieve) it could be something they wish to consider improving.

Far from it (my own personal opinion).

I work in FE and help to improve written English is something I am passionate about. I have helped many Deaf/deaf to develop skills (that can be used for many things other than work).

Sometimes a second bite at education as an adult can be very positive.

It doesn't affect benefits, or is proof of ability to work, or have any detrimental effect on them, that is why I asked.

I have a gentleman who had a severe stroke (incapable of work) who had dyslexia - he overcame this barrier and is now a volunteer (when fit) 4 hours a week for others in similar situation - Taking a Level 3 course to gain qualifications and the change in him is tremendous. He may not ever be able to work, but on a personal level it has helped.

You indicated you feel you have a low level of reading, writing, maths etc - it is logical to ask if you have considered improving this.

Life long learning is something we should all consider and for many has no bearing on work.

I am doing a cooking course right now because I can't cook - It's been very enjoyable - nothing to do with work, just me improving skills I felt were lacking.

Did you go to a school in England and there were no lessons in English, maths or reading at school? Really?:eek:

Flight, being in the WRAG is a positive thing. Your advisor may well suggest things that help you, they do not pressure you to do anything and you do not need to accept or take up any suggestions but there may well be something that could help you. You say you do not want to be on benefits and yet you are turning down the opportunity to gain advice and support that is provided with a guarantee of no pressure to do anything more than sit and listen. Why would you turn this no pressure opportunity down when it might help you?
