Has anyone at domain.com been messing around with their mail server settings? It seems to me that if you can send to x@domain.com and it arrives ok, but y@domain.com does not then the issue is the recipient server blackholing mail.

If there is an SMTP error (anti spam blocklist/other error), or an invalid recipient the message will fail and send you a postmaster warning/bounce. If you get nothing back either the message has been accepted by the remote server - or (and this is particularly prominent in Yahoo hosted mail accounts/services) the message is sat on the queue because the remote server is deferring it. When this happens it retries (typically for up to 72 hours) sending a warning at 24/36/48 hour intervals.

Just print off the bill and take it in, could there be the chance they are stalling to pay and telling fibs about getting your mail?

    I have asked the question.

I've not had any bounce/error messages

Nope, if they were like that, they wouldn't have phoned me to say 'we haven't had your bill' :)

On another matter, I received an e mail at 8.30 today, that we sent at 14.02 yesterday (it wasn't there at 08.20)? I phoned the company and they said that they had re-sent the message today, because I had e mailed them last night to say thay they hadn't replied to my message a couple of days ago! :undecided

Are you experiencing similar problems with other email contacts or just this particular domain?
How do I add a signature?

In all honesty, I don't know. I mainly send out rubbish ;) that doesn't necessarily warrant a reply, but nobody that I've needed a reply from has not received!

I work part time for a company

I send them a monthly invoice by e mail

I've never had any problems till this week.

Tuesday night, sent e mail to L dot Surname at Employer dot Co dot UK like I always do
Wed morning at work, I spoke to L to say 'I've e-mailed the bill'
Wed afternoon, L tells me that 'bill not arrived'
I phoned home and got Mrs B to resend it - still, no show!
When I arrived home, I phoned L, who said 'still nothing, try another address'
Whilst still on the line, I re-sent the message to L dot Different Surname etc and she said ' yes, there it is'

My ISP is plusnet and I use 1&1 as my e mail provider and Thunderbird as my client

Also had a couple of folks say that they have e mailed me and I've not got it - I have *no* spam/junk filters

    Any clues???

Sorry to (a) reply to my own post and (b) drag up an old message but ... the 'problem' is resolved!

It turned out that the original L1 was on maternity leave and L3 was covering for her .....
Turns out that L1 had set a 'filter' on her e mails to divert all messages from my section of the business into a separate folder on her PC

    Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:
