I work part time for a company
I send them a monthly invoice by e mail
I've never had any problems till this week.
Tuesday night, sent e mail to L dot Surname at Employer dot Co dot UK like I always do
Wed morning at work, I spoke to L to say 'I've e-mailed the bill'
Wed afternoon, L tells me that 'bill not arrived'
I phoned home and got Mrs B to resend it - still, no show!
When I arrived home, I phoned L, who said 'still nothing, try another address'
Whilst still on the line, I re-sent the message to L dot Different Surname etc and she said ' yes, there it is'
My ISP is plusnet and I use 1&1 as my e mail provider and Thunderbird as my client
Also had a couple of folks say that they have e mailed me and I've not got it - I have *no* spam/junk filters
Any clues???

try mailing yourself, see if it comes back. then try setting up a hotmail account and see if you can shuttle back and forth between them**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. Sounds like you may have a blacklisted ip address that some mail servers use for filtering spam0

If you've had problems with send AND receive I'd be suspicious of 1&1. Have you checked any of the problem emails directly at 1&1?
On an unrelated note I've had problems sending via smtp.googlemail.com. Sending from Outlook and Thuderbird clients has been problematical recently. Its fine if I use Google directly. I've tried the Plusnet SMTP server in Thunderbird and that seems to work fine. So my problem appears to be with Google's SMTP server. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

Doesn't seem that way. The one sent to L dot surname failed but the one to L dot 'different surname' at the *same* domain, went through fine!grumpycrab wrote: »If you've had problems with send AND receive I'd be suspicious of 1&1. Have you checked any of the problem emails directly at 1&1?
Sorry - don't understand the question.:ogrumpycrab wrote: »On an unrelated note I've had problems sending via smtp.googlemail.com. In T/B, the default SMTP is the plusnet one, but I just did a test (to my hotmail a/c as suggested above) and it said it was sending from 1&1:undecided0 -
Each email account in Thunderbird can have it's own mail servers specified. Some SMTP servers block relaying and only allow traffic from domains on the host's serversHow do I add a signature?0

I sent to my hotmail a/c - it arrived, albeit in the 'junk' folder
I sent back from my hotmail - it arrived fine.

Yes, but only for incoming a/c's
On mine, each pop3 a/c has it's own settings then at the end of the list is the SMTP settings boxIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

I just meant use 1&1 web(?) to look at the mail (as that's where its stored). Probably not much point as I guess there's no reason why Thuunderbird would lie and/or show the wrong stuff.
Yep - looked in the webmail, nowt :-(0
