I don't think there is anything wrong with them doing it. Its no different to getting a lettering offering a loan for £700. At the end of the day its another excuse for people in debt to say its not their fault their in debt when clearly it is.

Wrong. They must prove it IS your debt. Send them a 'prove it' letter. You can get more help on the Debt-Free Wannabe board.

Never ever again will I have anything do with with Creation -all they "Create" is high charges (34.0 APR !!) - and charge you interest even if you don't use the account. :mad:

I was fortunate enough this year to pay off my debts that I held due to a redundancy payout earlier this year - I rang Creation to pay off the final balance, and asked if there would be any further charges - NO was the reply. Sure enough 1 month later I rec'd a statement with a £23 charge for a failed "direct debit", bearing in mind I had already paid off my balance. They had charged me for a failed direct debit charge after I had paid off my balance !! I am refusing to pay this charge (bearing in mind all the profit they had made from my account in the first place) - I have complained via e-mail and in writing, so am awaiting the outcome ! There should be a straight across the board "cap" on all credit/chargecard interest charges and the APR. My worry is that with the recession an all, companies like this lot will take advantage of people that are desparate for any kind of finance !

Once again, anyone thinking of taking out any kind of finance with these rogues, whether a storecard or Loan is don't don't don't !!!! " :mad:

You can find dozens of articles about this company, who are one of the pariahs of the Financial Services Industry. Ignore the letters completely and let them take you to court. If everything you have said is accurate, they will lose the case, it will be thrown out, they will be responsible for all your costs and it is another bit of bad publicity for them.

Have GE finance been sold off to this Creation Finance?

GE Finance used to be based near Leeds (at least the UK bit). They also owned the LG consumer electronics brand at the time, which means I've never boght any of their stuff ever again.

I have a JJB card also run by creation financial and the interest on it is abismal. I have always had direct debit for minimum payment as used to use it quite a lot for football boots etc for my son playing and for sports gear in general, always paid it off over couple months but last year used it for sports gear as o/h didnt have much income due to S.E. and because only being paying minimum thro d/d i have only noticed today that the interest is only £1 less than the minimum payment, so in effect im only paying £1 mth off the balance!!! :mad:
I have just had a refund from WTC :Tafter fighting them for a year over them taking so called over payment that was due to false info they gave me!! (so keep fighting those of you who are war with them!! ) so I am just about to pay £100 to the JJB card and will pay another £100 next mth and pay it off and never use it again!
Ive also had the cheques sent and noticed the interest on them have never used them, but creation get you with sending vouchers for JJB AND for other shops (which i used last year for school stuff!) but obviously have to use the card to use the vouchers so when include the interest not actually saving anything!
I'd warn everyone STAY AWAY FROM CREATION THE INTEREST IS WAY WAY TOO HIGH!!! and like i said dont actually save with their vouchers as paying it through the interest!
i need to get back on track with my money saving was doing so well before income went down with drop in building trade (o/h job connected to that!!) huge thanks to martin and the team for all the fantastic help they give!

We used creation when we bought a laptop from Bennetts Electrical, missed the date for payment so have ended up with finance from them. One day after the missed date we rang them and said 'oops, sorry complete oversight on our behalf' (hubby had just returned from Afghanistan) and they just said unlucky if you want to pay for your £399 laptop it will cost you £901!!!!! I know we missed the deadline but, really????? Have spent half of today on the phone with them as we now have an arrears letter which we are not sure where or when the arrears occurred and a slight drama when we went to pay it through our online bank!!!! The sort code and account number on the letter wasn't recognised by my bank, the sort code/account number listed by my bank under their company name wasn't recognised and when I phoned them they gave me another sort code & account number which also didn't register!!!! I was told that they've never had any problems with anyone paying before - yeah, right - and the fault must lie with my bank, which oddly enough is the same bank they use!!!!! I phoned my bank who said that they would let me pay online with the numbers I was given over the phone but that won't work either!!!! I phoned creation again and spoke to, who I thought was the same chap but he assures me he wasn't and was constantly talked over and fobbed off. When I'd finally had enough of talking to the monkey I asked if he had a line manager or supervisor and he said he didn't - odd!!! He said he was head of accounts, which coincidently the other chap (that I think is the same one) said the same thing not an hour earlier!!!! I won't ever have anything to do with this very dodgy company again!!! Well that's if I ever manage to pay them anything!!!!! Watch this space.........
