What sells best at car boots?

It's been a while since I did one but I'm hoping to get one done in the next few weeks.
Is it worth me taking my old CDs and books and putting a blanket price of £1 on all of them? Do board games tend to sell?
I'm hoping to do a Christmas craft fair in December, selling some cards and home made crafty bits, would it be a good idea to take some along with me to the carboot and see what (if any) sells so might be popular?

Your're probably more likely to get offered a quid for the blanket than any used CD on top of it
Try bundling them all together for say a tenner
I see Ideal World are offering loads of Christmas crafting goods at present, so either they are managing to sell some or they won't be around come Christmas.0 -

Gah. No charity shop near me will take them and I'm really loathed to throw them away!

I was always amazed how, when my friend came back from a boot sale, she never brought any unsold stock back with her.
I thought maybe she had a secret sales technique so one day I asked her outright.
She explained it was simple. She took goods to sell at the boot sale as she no longer wanted them. Anything that remained unsold at the end of the sale was 'donated' to the local tip on the way home.
Simple, when you know how.0 -
I would say it depends on how you arrange them. I am quite happy to buy a CD at a bootsale for a £1 but I like to be able to easily see what they are.
Also it depends on the type of music, the more modern the better (I guess)Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
When I have done boot sales in the past books have always sold well, of course it depends on the types of books and how much you are selling them for.
Go with the mindset that you are getting rid of stuff you don't want any more aim to sell enough to cover the costs and make a little for yourself and price accordingly.0 -
There is a sub-forum on MSE on car boots. I suggest posting on it as well:

I do not see many CD's being sold at car boot sales these days. DVD's usually sell for £1 or £2 at a push so CD's would probably need to be priced much less. Books if they are old can do quite well, but the type bought at airports for holiday reading or from book clubs you cannot give away usually.0 -
People don't want to pay anything in my experience. What you need is to invest a small amount of money in specific products that people really want. Such as perhaps childrens colouring books, or wristbands, hmm..?0

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Why not look at music magpie - might be cashback via TCB or quidco too? - then see what they give you for the CDs?Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0

50p for a CD, if you really just want rid of them, then 3 for £1.
Books the same. I'm quite happy to pay 50p for a book. Its about the usual price for car boot sales.
Take something to eat and drink with you and a book for when it gets boring.
Good luck.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
