NO. This is wrong advice. It's an "either / or" situation. If you ask for your PAC code, your cancellation occurs when you transfer the number to another network (within 30 days or the PAC code lapses).

If you ask for your PAC code, don't use it and then, say, 10 days later ring and cancel, you will override the PAC code request and lose your number.
Apologies, my wording was sloppy. The quote above is correct.

Okay, I called to cancel. This time I got through to a UK call center. The guy was very nice, I explained the situation. He offered me the One S on the same package I was going to get, for £22. Yes, it's not *as* cheap, but it may be more reliable and less hassle. I've asked him to call me back in an hour while I think about this. It would cost more, but the benefits would be:
    1) peace of mind - no middleman, just a standard bill for £22.
    2) flexibility - if my needs change, I can change my contract during the 24 months (if it's the same cost or more expensive).
    3) 7 days cooling off period. If I change my mind I can cancel it.

I've got some thinking to do.

Oh yeah, I asked about the tethering thing too. He kinda said yeah, you can do it. Worse that can happen is you'll get told off if you go over 3 months on the trot and you'll have throttled speed for the following month.

if your are going to get the deal through tmobile PLEASE ASK TO PICK THE THE PHONE UP FROM CPW AND NOT T-MOBILE DIRECTLY!!!! t mobile branded handsets are terrible for updates, if you pick the phone up from cpw etc, the phones unlocked and unbranded, so you get updates quicker

its better than £36 per month!

You have some thinking to do.

    1. stay = £22 x 24 mths = £528 total cost
    2 move = £17.88 x 24 mths = £429.12 total cost

Is it worth saving £98.88 by switching and having to go through the redemption.

    dont forget £30 quidco!!!

Think it's £50 quidco in total, which is the depressing thing.

The flexibility is a plus, changing my text boosters to landline / tmobile unlimited calls for example. Also, if my needs change I like that I can amend my contract with them. Finally, if anything goes wrong, I'd much rather be dealing with t-mobile than a third party web-based company. I also get to keep my number, and I don't have to pay two months contracts at the same time.

It does seem like an extra £5 a month than the redemption/quidco method, but if I factor in the hassle of sending bills, the cost associated with recorded delivery and perhaps a few phone calls to their premium rate line, it might very well be worth it. Also, £22 a month for a top phone and decent tariff is quite a good price regardless, seeing as I'm currently on £20 with a pretty out of date and low spec phone.

I think I'm going to go with T-mobile, I'll ask if it's possible to collect from CPW - thanks for the tip.
  • HTC One S for £22/month sounds like a decent deal

If T-Mobile offered me Galaxy S3 for £20/month I would stay with them (currently £26/month - 300min/300text/60minEurocalls/Unlimited internet* until August). I'm worth it :rotfl:(only in May I paid over £400 while abroad, my bills vary.. from £30 to £80 a month). But it's not going to happen.

I asked what he would do the S3 for, he laughed and said that was a different story, and I'd be looking at £31 for the S3.

they wont offer it for ££20 lol, i phoned them 3 times as well lol, they also got rid of the booster you are on! they now offer unlimted texts, t mobile calls, or landlines lol
  • Heh.. I will ring them next week or week after and see what they can do for me...

I'll be like "Talk to me... sell me.." :rotfl:

    I'm not bothered whatever outcome.
