does anyone know how to get the educational discount on a refurbished mac? now that'd be hot0

It's Higher Education only. If you can log on through your uni site you get a specific URL. This works even outside of the network which is how I can check

Hi, does anyone know if this is only for Unis, or can you get this level of discount if you work at a college? Wife works at a college as an placement officer, so maybe we could get a really good discount?

If it's an FE college then she'll need to phone up, but she should get a discount.
If you get her to click on this link from her work machine it will tell her if she can access it or not (IIRC different unis get slightly different discounts - departments with certain tech needs get higher discounts but the average is about 14%).
Bottom line is yes she should be able to._samtheman wrote:does anyone know how to get the educational discount on a refurbished mac? now that'd be hot
I don't think it's possible but I'm not 100% certain. Maybe try in the Apple Store itself when they have refurbed machines on display. I think the logic is that you're already getting a discount so it's unlikely. Doesn't hurt to ask I suppose.
As for Quidco I think you just do it like normal - access the site from Quidco.
I'll be trying it when the Santa Rosa MacBooks come out so I'll let you know, although that might be a while.0 -
Hi,
Anyone know of any technical or other reason why it wouldn't be a good idea to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate and buy one in the states? Even comparing Apple's US and UK websites the saving is over £200 on the black one and almost £200 on the white one. My sister is visiting from California in a few weeks should I ask her to bring me one?
I would be grateful for your advice.

I would check if Apple UK would honour the warranty. They obviously want you to buy the one here for £200 more.0
