Worth a call to Virginmedia?

I am currently with Virginmedia for my broadband and phone and noticed that there is a Virgin deal of 30Mb broadband for £7.25 a month half price for 6 months then £14.50 a month after, plus phone line for £13.90 a month.
I am presently paying £15 for 10Mb broadband and £13.90 for my phone line every month .
Has anyone phoned Virgin to get put on this new deal or would they say it is for new customers only?

If you are outside of your minimum term its possible, just call up the thinking of leaving option and say you want the new offer that is available.
Word of warning:
Its a new 18 month contract, and you generally can't change mid contract, so you will be locking in a price of £28.90 for the 12 months after the promotional period.
You need to be careful with these, if you move house for example...and they don't have Virgin Media cable services then you will be liable for the contract cost in full.0 -

Wrong. If you move to a non cabled area you will not be liable as you can't get the service and that is Virgin's fault not yours.
But by all means when you call them up check this with them for your own piece of mind.

Wrong.
Many recent cases on here back this up - if YOU chose to move that is NOT Virgin's fault. Therefore Virgin can and will charge you the Early Termination Fee.
Now that virgin have the national services on ADSL when you move outside of the Cable area they do enforce the ETF.

Hell,I'd be grateful for a deal like that!...I'm paying £28 to O2 for 7meg BBand & line rental per month...Wrong.

I am not sure if I am in the right place? I use Skype to make all my phone calls. When I need to add credit I use my Pay Pal account. I went into Skype on Monday and was told my account was blocked. I looked into my account details and saw that 32.76 Euros had been taken out of my Pay Pal account. When I tried to contact Skype I found that there was no way of talking to anyone. There is no phone number or email address. So far I have not had any word from Skype. I sent Pay Pal an email yesterday and not heard from them. I cannot afford to lose this money. It was in my account to pay direct debits. Any advice Please. Ann:o0

Well thats certainly not what they are saying on the phone. I asked this specifically as there is a chance we may move in the next 12 months and was told that if I moved to a non-cabled area there would be no ETF.0 -
I have seen many instances where people are persuaded to enter into a minimum contract, and if there is then a change of circumstances, or if you see a better deal, it can end up costing a small fortune to escape the contract. I would recommend going with a company that does not lock you in to a minimum contract. My provider has no minimum contract period, charges just £5.99 pcm for the broadband, and £13.75 for the phone line, (and I also get free landline calls, free calls to some mobiles, and free calls to 10 international destinations). I would definitely never go back to a minimum contract period deal.0
