I's still advisable as on your claim form you will be able to clearly and honestly state that the police were informed and the call logged.
So what's the point in reporting it to the police to be told the rta has been complied with and they are not doing anything?
Have you reported all your collisions to the police?
Oh and the insurance company will want a copy of this report. They will be charged somewhere in the reign of £85 for a report that does not assist them. Who do you think that cost will be passed onto?0 -

Only when I'm convinced I am the innocent party, and given the op's report that was the situation here.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

So you're a serial victim then?
And how exactly did making these reports to the police assist you?0 -

Hypothetical answer on my part, never had to, only serious 1 I had when we were hit head on resulted in hospital so police called anyway, but it's what I would do.
Look at it his way, if you are involved in a crash are you more likely to ring 999 if you are at fault or innocent?, ok, an element of psychology, but it's a fact and insurers can use this in 50/50's
Anyway I see it my way you yours, end of,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

So you're quite prepared to ring 999 even though no criminal activity has take place, just so you can back up any insurance claim. You know this is complete waste of police resources and not what 999 is for.
Yes I am, and as another poster has said it can lead to the wrong doer being procecuted for carless driving or similar. Don't think that's wrong.
It's an accident not a crime, but if someone has caused it I would feel totally justified in involving the authorities.
Plus, it's not police time. It would be handled by civilians and as I pay the wages, I'm fine with that.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Since you're asking I'd comply with the rta. The last damage only I was involved in when the other party hit me, I let the insurance sort it. The other driver made a mistake the police wouldn't of prosecuted so why waste their time.
What do you think 999is for?0 -

It's police that attend not civilians.
You must pay a lot of tax to pay the wages. I bet you've not even said one pc's wages in tax in the last decade.0 -
