I would phone them, there could still be some left in the fridge that has gone off, someone else may not notice that it's gone.
Have you checked your own fridge to make sure it's cold enough?

When you take it back to Asda, double-wrap it, as "off" chicken smells vile!

Point out that you have had to make a special journey (don't mention nursery!) to return it - I've been given double refunds before now to compensate for travelling back to a store.

My mum once bought a frozen dessert from tesc's but when she got it home, it wasn't frozen at all. So she phoned up and told them, and explained that she had 3 kids under 6yrs old (was a foster parent at the time) and that she wasn't bundling them all back in the car to bring it back to the shop which was about 7 or 8 miles away. They duly sent out some youngster with a replacement and possibly a refund and an their apologies. So I'd be phoning them up - off chicken is far worse than a soggy dessert, and they should certainly be making amends and trying to keep your custom.

That's not to say I'd insist on them delivering something in replacement, but I'd want more than just a refund, especially as it's now inconveniencing you in having to make/get something else for your tea and the round trip for a refund.

I had a pack of chicken breasts from Morreasons that were off in date and I returned them to store that day as it was a sunday lunch time and I didnt have any other food in for dinner. They gave me full refund and replacement and 2 hot deli cooked chickens as gesture of goodwill. Hope you get good customer service at @sda.

Thanks all, i didnt phone but i returned the chicken! And I would have been happy with an apology and a refund, but she just put my refund on a gift card and not even an apology - will fire off a letter later on this evening!

    Thanks again all

That really is not good enough, lolly. Poultry has to be in tip-top condition or you and your family could be seriously ill.

If the person on the desk apologised and agreed with you that it was a disgusting chicken, they might get into trouble with management if you are taking it further because they have inadvertantly admitted guilt.
