This is not correct - it is impossible to call UK 08 numbers from abroad. I know I live in France and travel. The charging system will not work with foreign phone operators and mobile operators.
So with this information some one on holiday or business abroad with a lost, stolen or blocked card would be a very unhappy customer,
I have pointed this out to them several times - as have others but no change. I now think that it is ummm "dishonest"?

To give them some credit, the "international" number that comes up in the "Ask a question" for contacting them from abroad is +44 1695 53760.

However, that probably just suggests that they never got around to "0844"ing that number when they were updating the website.

Are we absolutely sure that 0844 numbers cannot be dialled from abroad? - some websites seem to suggest that they can (and of course that would explain why the Co-op has not amended the numbers) Assuming they can be, I suspect you would still get fleeced though compared with dialling the +44 1695 53760 geographic number.

Hopefully the Co-op's "review" of their 0844 numbers will consign them to the bin where they belong and is not simply a ploy to cut the alternative numbers when the noise about the change dies down!

This is a thread from last year, so not sure if I should be posting here, but I have just been caught out with this ! Called the Co-Op (from my MB) after they made a mistake on my account. The call cost me over £6 and worked out at over 20p per minute!! My most expensive call of the month by far, to remedy their mistake! The number I dialled was their old number, which diverted me to this new, high charging one. They were always a great bank, but time to move. Are there any better banks out there???

call 0161 855 0011 next time which is their landline, and use your minutes. This number is listed on the co-op app and freely available to use.
