Hi
Bad time at the moment as in process of splitting from wife and trying to sort out somewhere to live where my kids can visit so please be kind as i really dont need judgement. Stupidly, for the last 18 months, out of desperation, I have been getting loans from Wonga which is now at 1000 this month. As of yesterday we are finally going our separate ways and i need to leave and im not gonna be able to pay this back.
Ive looked on their website and it says that they will try and set up a payment plan with you if you cant pay but does anyone have experience of this with them please?
Please dont reply to tell me how stupid ive been as I know and I have seriously considered ending it all over this stress but I cant do it to my kids so I need to get it sorted.
Cheers
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for posting! a problem shared is a problem halfed.
One thing I want to say straight away, don't value your life at £1000 please. I know your in a bad place right now but things will get better they always always do!
With Wonga, relax! if you miss the payments for a few months the account with default and they will let you set up a payment plan. Either that or you can speak to CCCS or payplan and they can help.
I also advise speaking to the CAB maybe? chin up and carry on. Debt isn't worth ending your life for. you can walk away at any moment they just apply defaults and ruin your credit history.
Good luck! and I certainly don't judge you for taking out payday loans the banks are as tight as a ducks **** it's the only way to lend money nowadays!0 -
Give wonga a call i found them to be very helpful in setting up a repayment plan, they even extended it from 4 to 8 months for me.Dont panic
they will try to help you, afterall they want there money back so its in there interest to help people in your kind of situation.

You dont have to pay the loan back but i wont go there so all i can say is pay back what you can afford even if its £10 per month stick to your terms not theirs if they refuse just keep offering that payment, so long as you show intent on paying it wont go any further. Tomorow could be the brightest day of your life, dont want to miss that do you
When i say it wont go any further i mean the 3rd party thief the bailiff lol0 -

if you go to Payplan who are free and very helpful..... they will work your I&E leaving you money to live. the lenders wont.
Also my £400 loan with wonga is being paid off at the rate off just over £2 a month. i deal with payplan and wonga accepted their offer.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Hi Kevin
If you can't get through to Wonga on the phone, try emailing them on hello@wonga.com. You should get a quicker response.0 -

Agreed.
Kevin - Wonga are actually pretty reasonable when it comes to setting up a repayment plan, I sorted one out for my Sister last month.
Good luck bud.0 -
Got stuck with them myself.
Sent an email to TheTeam@wonga.com saying I was not able to pay.
I offered to pay so much a month on a set date.
This is the reply I got.
Our aim is always to help you settle your loan as quickly as possible and acknowledging difficulty in repaying is actually half the battle, so we really appreciate you getting in touch and discussing a repayment plan.
Whilst we cannot enter into a new agreement, I am happy to confirm we will accept your payments against the original agreement according to the plan below. Also, as a matter of our entire discretion we will freeze interest as long as the plan is maintained, because we are keen to help you settle the balance.

Please Login to the MyAccount section of the site to review and verify your plan. Don't worry if you have forgotten your password as you can request a new one at the login page.
Once logged in and having verified the arrangement, you can keep track of your payments at any time. You can also add a debit card, or choose your primary card, from where we'll take payments unless agreed otherwise.
If you miss a payment which has become due under the plan, the full remaining balance under that plan will become due and payable to us and will be automatically collected from your debit card. We may also make further attempts to collect the money from your debit card, or any other card you have chosen, either in one payment or in several amounts on a continuing basis until the amount you owe us is repaid.
We therefore encourage you to stick to the plan if at all possible but, if you become aware of a problem or want to discuss the arrangement, please call our friendly team on 0844 842 9109.
We look forward to receiving your first payment.0
