Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 3rd July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All
Fish fed, baskets watered, packups ready.
I had to leave work at 2:30 yesterday, I had a severe allergic reaction to something, gawd knows what I'm not usually allergic to anything. It started on the soles of my feet & the palms of my hands with the most intense itching, then a violent upset stomach, then I developed a bright red stripe across my eyebrows & cheekbones, eventually my entire body went bright red & itchy & hot. I drove from work to the local chemist, by the time I got to the chemist I was covered in bumps, I bought some anti histamine, drove home, fell onto the sofa under a quilt, slept for 2 hours & when I woke up I was back to normal. All very strange.
Also I looked up at one point yesterday to find a field vole sitting in the middle of my office floor, I have no idea how it got there, but I was able to catch it & release it out on the periphery of the school grounds.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow,
That reaction sounds horrible Hester:eek: Glad you are better now. Doc said I didn't have a water infection, just thinks my MS is progressing, and I am having another relapse.:( Seeing my Nurse tomorrow, so will see what she says. Lovely bruise on my back from fall yeasterday.:o
Decided to have a duvet day today. Horrid weather, and I've got to wait for a meat order from Donald Russell. They offered me a really good deal again, as I hadn't bought for a while.:T
Had a lovely lunch yesterday with DS's godmother.
(((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) to Bramble hope today is okay.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good Morning H/H and all who follow ,wet and grey day here in north Kent so maybe summer is over again for a few weeks. Its really not been a good one .My DD and I and the boys were going to Essex last Sunday, to Mersea Island but the weather was so unpredictable we decided to nip down to Westgate instead. We had the beach almost to ourselves and there is only an ice cream van and a small cafe there so the kids and DD went crabbing in between the showers and I sat and read the Sunday paper.I really feel for the traders when the weather is like this as they are so reliant on day trippers and passing trade.Well I bought a couple of cups of tea while I sat in the warm and read the paper and then DD brought the boys in as the rain had started again and they all had a plate of cheesy chips and hot chocolate to warm themselves up.The beach is beautiful, but not much fun in the wind and rain.We are hoping for a better Sunday this week so we will try again to get to Mersea.I used to live there back in the 1960s before we had the girls and its a lovely place to walk with the kids if the tide is out.
Today I'm not sure what I will be up to, probably watching Andy Murray at lunchtime and doing some knitting.A restful day in store for me after the school run.No shopping to get at least, so a pottering day I think.Hope you all have a good day(I did my washing yesterday) and managed to get it dried (it was mostly towels )so no washing to worry about.
Have a good one what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Good Morning All
Glad the anti histamines worked Hester!
Sorry the doctor wasn't more helpful Hilstep
Jackie - I love Mersea, as the crow flies I am quite close if I could go straight across the waterwe always go there in the summer, would love to have a beach hut there.
Today plans are - office work first thing, off to take little kitten to the vets for his injection. Then housework and ironing this afternoon. Am determined to keep on top of the housework and do a little each day, I had a lot of commission on a catalogue and a money off voucher so I treated myself to a Dyson Slim hoover - well worth it, I can hoover the whole downstairs in about 10 minutes and its so easy to pick up and use for little spills love it.
Just about to get some chicken out of the freezer and will be having chicken and bacon kebabs for dinner tonight.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning everyone
Thank you for all the kind words and support you're given me after our recent bereavement, it does really help x
HH - that sounds like a really nasty allergic reaction, take it steady today x
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy and overcast here and the wind has at last died down. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, veg and gravy, ice creams for those that had room for dessert. Tonight will be an easy dinner of fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg.
Work was another manic Monday as expected, hoping that today may be a little easier.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Hester glad you're OK, did you have reaction before or after the vole appeared......just wondering if that caused your reaction.

morning!
busy busy busy here today!
My sister is calling by any minute for a quick coffee before work then I'm doing a 2 hour cleaning job this morning followed by an 8 hour shift this afternon/evening.
House is tidy. WM is on with DSs bedding which will have to hang indoors as the weather is its usual carp.
Hilstep - have a restful day x x
Hester - hope that reaction was a one-off! x x
DH is feeding himself tonight as I get mine at work. DS is at work too and gets himself a snack from the subsidised canteen.
Have a lovely day all
Take care xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
HH - hope you are okay. Take care! It sounds pretty intense. And impressed you got rid of the vole - I would have been pathetic.
Hilstep - hoping you feel better soon
Hugs to all, and desperate envy to those who are near the sea. I used to live near to the sea, I don't any more and sometimes I really miss it.
Absolutely streaming with cold here. So another one to take an antihistimine so I can go more than four seconds without wiping my nose. This is an exaggeration, but not much of one. Next door are supposed to be organising a skip. They are supposed to have been organising a skip for several weeks now. The road is allegedly being dug up this week (no sign so far) and so the skip should be here after the road has been done (allegedly). So I should be upstairs sorting stuff out for the skip we are sharing. This may not happen.
Mince for tea tonight.
Just had to break off to rescue next door's cat from the marauding ginger tom that really needs to lose his furry dice. I may get very old style with that!
Lots of hugs to allAnkh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Morning everyone,
Hester that reaction sounds nasty.
Hilstep be careful.
Sybil I know what you mean about the sea, I have always lived in big midland cities but when I see the sea my heart lifts.
Still raining here, I have had to resort to using the tumble drier again, where is my summer sun!
My mum went back to the hospital yesterday and was given a permanent cast. She was told that she doesn't need an operation and that the cast will be off in 6 weeks. She was so pleased that when she was told that she could choose the colour of the cast she went for bright pink with glittery bits!!!!! She is 73!
Down to one child tonight as DD1 is still in Germany and DS has gone to Skegness for a couple of days with a church youth group. It will be really quiet at home.
Tea tonight is chilli that I made yesterday.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning :hello:
GIANT ICE CREAM
I felt really cold at about 1pm yesterday so I put the heating on  It's much warmer today, though very cloudy.
The chickens are very chilled out this morning, there's usually at least one shouting about something - usually a complaint that one of the others is in the nesting box that she wants to use
I've made a website. It's not live yet, I've still got lots to do. My problem is photos, I can take a pic that's good enough for people to say 'awwww, that's cute' (if it's an animal) but I want to sell things - not animals! - and I just can't take a photo that shows things off.
Best get on - I'm not even dressed yet.Bulletproof0 -
Love the icecream Tru and especially the bit about covering it with a tarpaulin to keep the seagulls off.:D0
