This list is not to be thought as written in stone: For example Bronchiectasis is listed in group 4 "invite for medical". Yet if the form of the disease is serious enough a doctor can state that the patient is too ill to attend a medical. The DWP can then decide on a home visit or may place the patient in the support group.
For the purposes of administrative scrutiny of cases to determine suitability for inclusion in the DLA in Medical Examination Centre project, 5 categories of case have been devised:
In 2005 the Welfare Reform Bill, which introduced the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), had not yet been enacted hence the reference to the Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
1. Unsuitable for calling to a Medical Examination Centre.
2. Reference to Medical Advisor required for advice.
3. Tentatively invite to Medical Examination Centre.

Great list, thanks
Have to say I'm appalled that Down's Syndrome isn't in the "unsuitable" category, although I imagine most people with DS would also come under 'severe learning difficulty'.Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur0 -
I shouldn't be called then since I have Thallasemia, I am on morphine and have RA and I suppose CHF could come under respitory failure. We shall see though, not holding my breath“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

Mental Subnormality i've never heard of that term?
Schizophrenia that's my fiancee - so what does that mean for him?
Severe Depression that's me
3. Tentatively invite to Medical Examination Centre:
Agoraphobia (offer taxi) they think a taxi would be any better! fear of the outdoors and/or fear of being away from your "safe place"...which is usually your home...it is for me...so a taxi...outside...not in a safe space...with a stranger...oh yeah a taxi will help!
Anorexia Nervosa that was me years ago
Eating Disorder that's still me
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that's me but i'm not formally diagnosed
Phobic Anxiety i have lots of phobias!
Social Phobia yep that's me although i'm not sure if it's down as a formal diagnosis or not.
4. Invite to Medical Examination Centre:
Anaemia i've recently had iron-def' anaemia. i'm on iron still because the last time i was tested i was still borderline.
Anxiety yes
Back Pain yes..*and ankle/feet/lower leg pain...*and extreme menstrual pain that confines me to bed!
Bulimia Nervosa yes. :embarasse i noticed they put Anorexia in the tentatively invite, but Bulima in the invite. they seem to class anorexia as more serious...alot of people do...but bulimia can be just as deadly. it's strange they putting eating disorder in the tentatively invite...bulimia i an eating disorder!
Depression that's me...but i'd be in the severe type...that apparently needs a medical advisor
Dizziness i do get that sometimes although it's more faintness...which i'm surprised they haven't mentioned:undecided
Eczema yes i have that but it comes and goes...so i don't have it all the time
Migraine yes i get those...i also get barometric headaches/migraines when the weather is overcast/humid/hot...it's been bad because of all the recent rain:(
Panic Attacks yes that's me...and how nice they put this in the invite section but other anxiety disorders are in the tentatively!
5. Any other Diagnosis:
Not listed above should be referred to a Medical Adviser for advice.
*see back pain in the invite section.
so what's this mean for me?
i've got things in the medical advisor required and invite and tentatively invite.
more to the point what doe "tentatively invite" mean?:huh:0 -
Medical advisor required- I think that they will just write to your GP/Therapist/Psichitrist to see what they have to say.
Invite- perhaps invite someone to medical...
Tentatively means that they not even sure if its woth sending someone to medical (tentatively- is being hesistant, uncertain of sth)
Not 100% sure about it though, its just my quesses based on my knowledge of DLA claim process (got it awarded in may on mental health grounds so if you need any help dont hesitate to PM me!)

My neighbour has severe problems as listed on the unsuitable for calling to medical centre list, and not only was she called in, but had her benefit stopped!0
-
'Medical adviser' means usually not your GP, or anything else, but that a query will be made to 'medical services' - ATOS - who will decide - usually on the basis of the documents you've supplied rather than requesting others - if you are suitable to be called to a WCA.0

Why can't someone with bulimia travel to a medical????(AKA HRH_MUngo)

My husband shouldn't be called in for a medical then, he's got amputation of both legs and has renal dialysis but I still half expect him to still be called in when they get round to him.Dum Spiro Spero0

Why?
I was on IVB for over 20 years and I recently got transfered to ESA, I just told the truth with my changover ESA50 form and I enclosed the proof to make sure I was not forced to go for a face to face assessment.
I told them I was entitled to the support group on several criteria and I enclosed the medical evidence to make sure that they allowed me to transfer on the form alone.
There is no need for the most severely disabled to be assessed IMHP, we are not fit for work.0 -
its all well and good if you have the evidence. i have a consultant that will onlu write a report if he is paid. i went to my GP this week to ask to be referred elsewhere.
he said ' i cant refer you elsewhere just because your consiltant wont support you for benefits purposes.
never mind that he is patronising, doesnt listen and talks over me0
