I agree about the weather causing the grass to grow fast.

My husband also cuts our side grass verge, along with our neighbour's. But he can't cut the grass verges of the whole flippin' village!

When some pavements have got to the stage of being impassable and dangerous to use, the council are failing in their duty of care.

I'm relatively new to posting threads on MSE but I have been a lurker for a while.

This experience has really put me off posting again to be honest. I know many of you don't agree with what you'd call petty trivial issues, when there are bigger things going on. I accept this.
I just wanted peoples experiences that's all. What its like where you live, what concerns you have.

Well I've heard it all now.

I'm sorry if some of you have bigger problems going on, this thread was never meant to upset you, but some of you have taken it personally.

I think some of you should seriously grow up, why say stuff when you can't be nice to each other? Why bother posting your reply if its not helpful and just plain nasty? Seriously people, its supposed to be friendly on here...I think.

I'm sure someone will attack this post too :D

    Play nicely children:rotfl:

:) I think it was the tone of your first post on here that did it for me, and probably others. I've no doubt you didn't mean to, but you did come across as being a bit "I have a baby - organise the world around me" ish. I think it was asking the law was on getting wet from walking into over-hanging flora that did it. I laughed so hard when I read that. :rotfl::rotfl: Sorry, sorry :)

At the moment the councils in my area are too busy dishing out sand bags and preventing/clearing up after floods to be able to do the normal summer maintenance. The ground water flooding is so unpredictable that they just cannot keep up with the requests for help.

I have to agree that the growth rate for grass and hedges at the moment is absolutely astonishing. I've never seen so much growth so very fast before. The birds have fledged from my hedges now but I cannot cut them yet, the weather has been far too wet. I've snipped the worst back with hand shears but that is as much as is possible just now, and for the foreseeable future it seems :(
