We have the same problem with cheese. OH only likes a certain brand of cheese which is regularly on offer. So I don't want to buy it at full price if I can help it.
Unfortunately OH doesn't understand that just because we have 5 packs of cheese in the fridge it does not mean he should eat 5 packs of cheese within a week!
Freeze it. Cheese of all sorts freezes well.:)
I have cheddar, emmenthal, brie, paneer, parmesan and loads of others in the freezer now.0 -
In our house (it's just me and the kids now, but the husband used to be part of it too) we divvy up "treats" and your share is your share for the week. If you eat all of yours you can't just go eating someone elses when they've saved theirs.
Saves rows between the daughters who have very, very different attitudes to sweets!0 -
I am always stocking up my stock cupboard, in fact if it starts looking a bit empty i start feeling a bit on edge:o I buy things that are on offer but i also buy extra tins with my shopping even if i don't really need them, but just incase. My cupboard is always full, my fridge looks a bit bear sometimes though as things don't seem to last that long before they perish, otherwise that would be full to:)Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

Don't normally have to ration them either!
:rotfl: I once found I had 18 cans of tomatoes in the cupboard.0 -
I am and my OH drives me mad when I get a good deal (3 for £1 mini eggs/5 for £1 crunchies for example) and he eats them all within a week!
He doesn't understand that once it's gone it's gone and I'm unlikely to get the same deals for a long while. Thus no crunchies/mini eggs etc for a while.
Because this isn't money saving, it's getting more stuff you don't need for the same price.:)0 -
Yes -- crisps! We're "allowed" one bag a day each. When the 7 bags each for the week are gone, they're gone. But if I get extra because they're on special offer, I have to hide them from OH otherwise he'd eat them all within a week and this does not save me money!0

I do the thing with cans of tomatoes too
. Also like to stockpile my favourite Twinings tea when it's on offer and DH's shaving gel.
I can remember being intrigued a few years ago when I went to view a bungalow with my mum when she was house hunting, and every cupboard in the large kitchen was rammed with bottles of Shloer. As the householder showed us round, each room had more and more bottles of the stuff squirrelled away. Very odd.

My OH is the same. I've taken to hiding things in the ironing pile, a handy tip my mother gave me. Apparently she has been doing it for years and after 37 years of marriage my dad still hasn't a clue where treats materialize from.:T Looking forward to the future :T0

This is a good idea! I should hide stuff in the towel drawer, seems to be every time DH jumps in for a shower he is shouting down the stairs 'Can you get me a towel?' :rotfl: Either he forgets or he doesn't know where we keep them lol I haven't figured out which yet xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
My husband is too lazy to 'hunt' for food in the house, so I just stick it on a shelf in the attached garage, which is much too far away for him to go to.

That would be the worst place to hide anything from me, I live in the garage. :rotfl:
I don't have a lot of storage in my kitchen which makes it difficult to stock up.:(0
