Notakid.
Love the dress and necklace.
Does she have a skull bag as well?0 -
Sorry to get whimsical - we didn't have a year 11 do but we had 'valedictory dinners' for each year of sixth form which was essentially prom - this was 8-10 years ago now - you got to go each year and I managed a cheeky third as my boyfriend at the time was in the year above me so I got to go to his as well.
I wondered if the "countryside hotel near Chelmsford" referred to in the article is Channels Golf Club which is where ours were.
My mum made wedding dresses as a living at the time, as a Saint Martin's fashion grad, she made me the Satine red silk dress from Moulin Rouge, corsetted and the big bustle skirt, I thought I looked the bee's knees
We shared a limo, I can't think it was more than £20 each, I did all my own makeup and hair although looking at the photos now I maybe should have had it done - my skills have definitely improved in that department! I think I sorted my own shoes - infact I have a suspicion I might have bought them from the market - just plain black satin shoes with a cross over bit - I think I already had them and figured noone was going to see them under that skirt anyway.
All in all - I loved every minute of it. I remember my last one was on my birthday and I'd just turned 18 - headed into town after and went to the nightclub - I got ID'ed for the first time in my life - and I actually had some ID to show! First and last time I ever went in that club actually.
I found some of the attitudes in the article a bit distressing - both those girls who wouldn't borrow things 'for shame' and those acting like little !!!!!es. I felt most sorry for that last girl the most, with the red hair equating romance with drinking.0 -
I don't mind the high school proms so much, but the new fascination for proms for the kids leaving primary school is getting a bit ridiculous. Although I have to say it's the blimming parents that are a nightmare - they are so into one-upmanship it's ridiculous.
One school I work in actually cancelled theirs this year because of the attitude of some of the parents towards the teachers and PTA.0 -
that dress and necklace is/are fabulous! I haven't got to the prom stage yet (my girls junior school don't do it), but my school had a ball after o'levels (my yr was the last to sit them - age giveaway) and then after A'levels and i did go, we all wore Laura Ashley ballgowns (in the sale) it was that type of school, although for the one after A'levels my mum made mine, I thought it was mega glam, looking at the photos, youth and a good figure cannot make up for the awfulness of an '80's dress lol0

Moromir it was actually at Pontlands Park.0

Thanks for everyone's kind comments. Its very nice of you to say you like it. As its personal taste I didn't expect that. So thanks!:pI need this necklace. Where did you get it from???
Ebay, just put in "Snake Skull Flower Earring Necklace Set Swarovski Crystal Black Halloween" and its down under the Hong Kong Sellers
I got it thru a seller called Seperwar but I've just checked his store and he hasn't got any the same colour.Notakid.
Love the dress and necklace.
Does she have a skull bag as well?
Thanks Poppy, no her bag matches the very high shoes! But she does have a diamante spider ring!
Looby the dress cost 57.00 pounds I'd added the cost of the shrug which I paid 20.00 for. I got into a bidding war both times! GRRRRR I will say the dress does look more expensive in the picture, if I'm honest! But I'm hoping with all the other stuff she will look and feel fab!:D
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
Blimey. DD had hers last week total cost £75 (Dress - £20, shoes £15, earrings £3, Ticket £25, transport £10, hair £4, nails £3, Free necklace & bracelet, borrowed my bag).

My daughter just walked in and saw that necklace and said"oh my god that is awesome, I would so wear that!!"0
