New European tariff

It's not only 1p/min difference. Data is now capped at £671.92/GB, but Orange is charging £696.60/GB and Vodafone is charging £696.00/GB. That's over £24 more than is allowed, which is a disgrace when the caps are already much higher than a reasonable level. The cap should have been set at more like €70+VAT per gigabyte and the networks should charge substantially below the cap. However I for one have better things to worry about than 1p/min difference.....0 -

Today's rate is irrelevant. The relevant rate is from the EU Official Journal on 1st June 2012 which was 0.7999 and which will apply until 30th June 2013. Please read the press release before posting further drivel.Notmyrealname wrote: »Only problem is todays exchange rate was 0.8017p, not 0.7999p per Euro..0 -
....and how do you know the exchange rate taken was from that date? It could have been from 1st May? Nothing in the link you quite states the rate has the be the one quoted from 1st June!
Something isn't right, as the networks wouldn't flout this rule, so you must be wrong.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
It clearly does state this in the link I posted above to the European Commission press release and I even quoted the relevant text from it. Can't you read?....and how do you know the exchange rate taken was from that date? It could have been from 1st May? They would flout the regulations and they have done before as I also mentioned.Something isn't right, as the networks wouldn't flout this rule, so you must be wrong.
I really think you need to read things properly and do your research before posting again.0 -

I think you need to drop your attitude sunshine.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
Not at all. Coincidentally, yours is the same response I get from Orange Customer Services when I report a breach of the regulations - "the networks wouldn't flout this rule, so you must be wrong". It's your attitude and that of your colleagues that needs to change. It's Orange that has got this wrong, not me.I think you need to drop your attitude sunshine.0 -
Thank you for your reply. Admittedly I scanned over the EU docs on my iPhone last night as I have now re-read it and appear to have blearily-eyed missed a few things, so I'm man enough to apologise for that. I will go and ask the questions as you may have a point.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019.
