Real life MMD: She dumped my son - should I make her pay for the holiday

I would not have believed this thread if I hadn't read it myself!
Firstly the taxes are only paid if you have been away, if you don't fly, you don't pay the tax.
Does your son know you are thinking of doing this?
Maybe this girl dumped him because of the future in-laws.
In short. I would not ask her to pay anything. My names not Bill but I am from Beverley0 -
I can't think of anything worse than going on holiday with your boyfriend AND his parents!! I bet nobody even asked her if she wanted to go............
It also sounds like she is better off out of the relationship if the in-laws are this money minded .
Of course you shouldn't ask her to pay.If anything you should be asking the son to find someone else to fill the seat, assuming of course that you can't get a refund.0 -
NO. And even if you did ask her for the money you probably wouldn't get it anyway!
Let it go I say and if there ever is a next time ask for the money UPFRONT!0 -

I don't agree with that at all - if she was a total b*tch she would probably be selfish and wait to dump him so she could enjoy the holiday! Sounds more like she's an honest girl who couldn't keep pretending everything was fine just to get a free holiday. Her and your son are probably both upset over the break-up, so it's best not to upset them even more by chasing money for something which you had already offered to pay for, after all. If you can't cancel or substitute another person into the spare place without losing out, you 'll just have to put it down to being 'one of those things'.0 -
Change it to my name...I'll pay the admin fee could do with a holiday!!!
(is there room for my kids in the case????)virtual sealed pot #167 = £32.56
januarys jiggling for the 7lb club = 15lb!!!:j
Absolutely Flabless February for the 7lb club#9=7lb:T
Must not munch in March for the 7lb club#11= 6 1/2lbs0 -
It depends.
Sorry if this might sound offensive but, why did she dump your son?
If he done something worth being dumped for then this is a whole different question.
Try to always see all sides of any problem.
Having said that, if she just being a cow, BILL BILL BILL her all the way0 -
"Should we ask her to pay for the taxes and economy ticket cost?"
Why? You're not seriously suggesting she still joins in with the holiday?0 -
Well I would never go go on holiday with my girlfriend, and my parents, ever! But if someone asked me to pay I'd just say NO! :mad:0

Ask away, but don't be surprised if she dumps you too!
She is under no obligation to pay for a gift.., especially one that she clearly doesn't want.0 -
Oh and of course there's always the chance they'll get back together in a few months..., you really don't want to have a bad relationship with someone who still may end up as your daughter-in-law one day.
Chalk this one up to experience.0
