Welcome to the site. You may get a good response in the Weddings section of the forum (not saying you won't get one here). If it makes you feel any better you're not the only ones on a tight budget.

A wedding is as cheap as you want it to be.
Book a registry office/church or hotel and get married.
The cost of our actual wedding in £40 notice fees, £75 pre marriage course and a donation to the church and priest, and £8 for the marriage certificate.
The expensive bit is the extras - Recpetion, clothes, cars, music etc etcWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
would ideally like a hotel for the full thing as there will be a few disabled guests and its to save them having to be moved about . . . its just the venue cant find anywhere cheap

Why not put off the date for a while and save up for the wedding you want? Rather than trying to do it on the cheap, yes, this is a moneysaving site but it's the BIG day for you... worth putting a bit of time and thought into. Let it be the day that you look back on and say "that was exactly as I wanted, perfect"
Or as lazer says, a wedding is as cheap as you want it to be.0 -
Have you tried local village halls? They are usually very inexpensive and you can probably hire them for the whole weekend. Most are quite quaint but you can decorate yourself quite inexpensively as long as you do no lasting damage to the building.
Our local village hall has a kitchen which could save you even more money if you have somebody who could cater for you?0 -
Tbh, hotels are generally not going to be too cheap. You would perhaps be better looking for a registry office with disabled access and then a function room or something afterwards. People tend to expect to have to move round a bit so am sure they will understand.
If you really have your heart set on a hotel then look for special offers (some of the chain hotels do these, think Travelodge had one on a bit back, not sure if it will still be running) and it will be a lot cheaper out of the main wedding season.0 -
I totally agree with this but seem to keep putting it off we want our big day

I'm of the opposite opinion, why put off something as brilliant as getting married just so you create some perfect party?I_wanna_live_for_free wrote: »Why not put off the date for a while and save up for the wedding you want? The utter happiness of saying our vows in front of the ones we loved made the day perfect. You really really don't needs wads of cash to create some faux dream and you really don't need to put load and loads of thought into it. Just a bit of thought in to the day and a lot in to your vows and what you both hope and expect from your marriage.
(Which doesn't mean it is wrong in any way to spend wads if you have it and that is what you want, I just think it good to do things now and not put something so significant off)
You could spend a year or two planning, putting your life on hold and then a parent dies or something before your wedding. Live now. Go with your passion to get married:D
I think some poeple get confused about the nature of this site: yes, this is a money saving site, which means getting the best price for the things you want and can afford, so you can have a £30,000 wedding but just get the best price you can for all the bits you want. The site is not about living simply and frugally IYSWIM, although it does encompass that if that is what you want.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Thanks Brighton bell we dont want to put it off any longer just posted on the hope that we are not the only ones on a budget and that we may get some feed backBrighton_belle wrote: »I'm of the opposite opinion, why put off something as brilliant as getting married just so you create some perfect party?
