If you get on with your manager and you're genuinely ill (which you are) then I don't really know why you're worried about it. Sounds like your DH isn't helping too - you sound like piggy in the middle, your manager wanting to come, your DH not wanting her to come.

Don't worry about other people, if you don't mind her coming over then let her come, if YOU don't want her there then ring her and suggest an alternative.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Your company has a policy of home visits. Your manager is therefore required to meet up with you.

It shouldn't go in depth into your illness at all, because all that will be covered in your return to work interview. It will very likely go along the lines of:

Do you think you'll be back when the doc's note runs out, or do you think you are likely to be signed off again - how are you feeling etc?
How are things at home, is being off sick having a big impact or is everything OK?
How's the money end holding up? (ie employers dont want you to feel you are too sick to return to work but you're going to do it because of money pressures - depends on your sick pay policy)
Have you started to think about when you come back to work at all, are there any special requirements? (eg special chair, part time work for the first week, stuff like that)
A bit of social stuff, what's going on, how work is, but just social chit chat level.

It's not scarey, and it's not designed to find out if you really are sick or whether you're lying at home feeling fine, peeling grapes and watching daytime tv instead of slaving away at work. An employer will assume that if you have a sick note, then you're sick, end of story. Especially as their insurance will be invalid if you come back to work while you're signed off sick.

Nothing wrong in saying to your manager can you meet up in a coffee shop if you're up to going out yet. Doesn't have to be in your home, just has to be not on the company premises.

Stinky, Your company sounds 'exactly' like my husbands atm.

And they are a bunch of bullys.

If you don't want to let them come round to your house (I mean who would when your sick) then don't! :)

Good policy or not, your doctor knows best, and if he's given you a sick note, then that should be enough.

CFC above wrote some questions they might ask, which ALL could be asked over the telephone. They are being intrusive when your not up to it. Tell them to get lost :)

Id be temepted to advise them that if they enter yourt home address you will be forced to contact your lawyer regarding harassment, Im pretty sure your compnay should not be calling you / visitiing you once you have a sick note for a set period.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
