Bramble (((HUGS))) I've just read your news. I hope you can all get through this with minimal pain. It's not easy, I know, but it's foolish to remain with someone and be miserable. (((HUG))) for Pup, as well.

I managed to cut the back lawn yesterday - it took me ages, but it looks heaps better. Poor Mr LW was still battling with gremlins in the work computer systems; in fact he's been battling with them a lot of today also (he took a time-out to do the monthly Farmers Market run, thankfully) and even had a call at 02:00 this morning because something else wasn't playing nicely.

I'm suffering for my efforts now though - my shoulder is agony, despite three doses of Oramorph throughout the day, and my knees seem to have gone on strike (I wore my knee supports, too!)

Mr LW has done the front lawn - again, he got chance for a time-out for long enough to do this - so we have a bulging wheelie-bin of grass clippings to put out Tuesday morning.

  • Hi everyone

I have been MIA for a while due to work/family/holiday but I am now back and determined to start over afresh and think about myself more.

I have decided that today is the first day of the rest of my life (excuse the cliche!). Holidays do tend to make you reflect though dont they?!

So I am going to try and be a regular on here and get myself into a happier place - I feel like I have been drifting along for a while and I need to focus and make more of life.

Tomorrow I am going to sit down and look at my finances closely - I have a relatively small credit card debt which I would like to get paid off sooner rather than later. I also want to get some money into my savings and generally just "think twice" before spending. For example, I have been getting gel nails when I could just paint them - at £30 its not cheap and not necessary! I have looked at my account online but I would like to print it out so that I can make notes on it etc.

I am also going to take a packed lunch to work every day and take a lunch break to eat it (I tend to work through when Im busy and its not good for me to not take a break and at the end of the day, they dont think any more of you do they?).

Tomorrow evening I am going to go back to weight watchers, I dont have an awful lot of weight to lose but its nice to get a bit of "me time" and socialise with the other members.

Gosh, this has turned into a bit of a moan - Im really sorry about that!

Anyway, I actually feel better already and I look forward to chatting with you all and giving each other support. I know how much you support each other on here.

On a practical level, I have done a lot today - walked the dog, did the ironing from the holiday, cleaned the house and dinner is ready for later.

Thank you for reading this (if you're still awake by now!).

Hello Trying no, your post didn't come across as a moan (you should've seen the whinge-fest I posted yesterday!!) You're getting your thoughts in order, and planning for a better future. Good on you! Without getting on my soapbox (it's something I have strong views on) yes you must have a proper break for your lunch. Mr LW didn't get a break on Friday (to be fair, he does normally) and I was extremely cross on his behalf.

Anyways, good luck with everything; keep posting! Ooh, what sort of dog do you have ? (Sorry, I'm dog-mad):D

  • Hi LW

My late mum always used to nag at me about the lunchbreaks and I actually find that I am more productive overall if I take a break so I will endeavour to do that starting from tomorrow!

We have a lovely 7 year old border collie - he is wonderful and great company - plus he gets me out of the house and I always feel better after a walk to the river.

    Afternoon all

I'm at my friend's mum's house currently, dog-sitting! My friend's mum is away, so friend was dog-sitting. Dog has accident this week and had op/stitches, and needs someone here 24hrs to keep eye on him. Today my friend's nan was taken to hospital and it may be last time my friend can see her, so she asked if anyone could help her out for few hours so I got roped into dog-sitting. Now I'm not at all a dog person, and am apprehensive of big dogs! And Jack is an alsatian!! But so far we are doing ok :rotfl:

Me and my friend took him for a walk in the park before she left, and now he is just laying on the rug watching tv! My friend should hopefully be back by 6/7. I've spent the time reading, watching tv and surfing the net.

Annoying my plans for tonight have fallen through, so will just have a quiet one I think.

    Evening all

Just made it to the puter...we had friends round last night so a bit tired today. Rained buckets this morning but it cleared up and I got some washing dry(DS back from holiday).

The plaster is drying at last. OH and I went shopping and bought a carpet this afternoon. Just the bedding to go but we can't make up our minds. I have already bought the fitted sheets in the M&s sale as we bought one of those deeper divans so it will have to go with light cream.....

OH is currently cooking a roast chicken dinner and I have just taken a jolly fine apple crumble out of the oven.

In a minute I am going to make a lemon drizzle cake as I can't resist OH's pleading eyes any longer and will pop it in the oven when we take the dinner out. The butter has been softening and I have taken the eggs out of the fridge.

    Hello Trying....

Bramble have a hug lovey and you will find a keeper......

Oh and it's raining again. What a surprise!.

Tappers more piccies of Tarquin please. Looking forward to seeing the interior when you have done a make over.

LW take it easy with the gardening. If I lived closer I'd come and give you a hand. I'd quite like a dog but have never been around them(always cats). We lost Dolly to the road a while back and so will not have another cat while we live here. But I'd like a furry face in the house. Do you have any suggestions ? I feel I might be a smallish sort of dog person and what do I have to watch out for as a complete novice? Ta.

    Have a good evening all.

Ha it's not that bad BB! I just don't like big dog who jump up at you. But Jack was lovely and docile so it was ok. The nan is hanging in there.

Friend got back at 6, we had cuppa and chat and I've just got home now. Had some pizza at my friends (dominos :D her LO's from last night!) so will prob just have some cheese n crackers for tea if peckish.

Glad I pulled the washing in before I left cos it's pouring now.

This is, of course, where I get the best of both worlds, with doing dog-sitting.:D

If I was going to have my own dog again, I'd go to a dog rescue place and have an unwanted mutt.

Really, if you're looking at a small dog,for hardiness and character, you could consider a Westie - one of my regulars, Dilly, is one of those (she's arriving next Saturday for an 8 day stay) and she's fantastic - 13 years old now, and still loves to play.

Just a mo - I have a movie of her stored on Photobucket....

Molly will also tell you how great Westies are - she's got two!
