Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
I woke up at 4 with a sneezing fit & couldn't get back to sleep again after.
I've fed the fish & watered the hanging baskets & set the DW going.
I think I achieved everything I needed to yesterday, including buffing up the spare room, but boy was I tired afterwards & so went to sleep really early.
Roast beef & HG new potatoes today, hubby dug about 5 kilos up yesterday, I think there are peas & carrots ready as well.
MM, you mean Katy? Yes I'm hoping I don't get another one like her, lol. If I get language students they are usually only for a fortnight, Katy was an OTT on a years contract. Because we live out in the sticks I'm limited to people who work where I work or to language students.
I need to make a batch of marmalade today & some cakes for work, a traybake of some sort probably, I haven't decided which yet.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Morning Hester!

so....i told my OH I didn't want to be with him anymore last night. feeling a little empty.

Helping my friend judge a showjumping competition today which I am so greatful for, will take my mind off things.

Some washing to do today, but apart from that I'm not really in the mood to do anything round the house!

    Hi Bramble
    So sorry to hear that

  • Morning all,
Bramble, sorry to hear your news.
Hester, I can't wait until our potatoes are ready. They are not going to be long now.
Thankyou all for your kind wishes yesterday. Sorry i can't remember who asked but dd's alopecia just happens, there is no reason behind it. They do say that stress can be a factor but that is not always the case, it can just happen.
It is so sunny at the moment. Pollen count must be high. Since i have been up i have done nothing but sneeze. Eyes are sore too.
Have put one load of washing on the line. Another going round in the machine.
Need to bake a cake for lunches. Chicken for dinner with potatoes and veg.
Not doing much else today as did all of the housework yesterday, so it will be a quick flick round today.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hester - I did exactly the same, woke up at 4am (although in my case it was due to the cat having a mad moment running up and down the hall outside our bedroom!) and couldn't get back to sleep.

Bramble - sorry to hear that *hugs* hope you have a nice day with your friend to take your mind of it.

I woke up at 4am, tried to get back to sleep until 5am but I only dozed a little so I got up and started cleaning to give me something to do. Did the pots we left yesterday as we went for an unexpected meal out with OH's family, cleaned the kitchen, sorted the living room and spare room. Really wanted to hoover but I don't think it would be kind to my OH in bed or our neighbours, so that can wait until later!

Now I am cuddled up on the couch with a blanket as it is really cold here today, refuse to put the heating on so cosied up :) Need to go home and see my parents today but other than that I think it will be a nice relaxing day - will go for a nice walk later to get some air.

    Morning all!

Bramble- Well done love. I told my husband to go twelve years ago after I found out about his fourth affair. (That's the ones I knew about) He thought he could go off and have them and always come back to me and the kids, and I had had enough. I met my OH two years later, and the last ten have been brilliant. Don't get me wrong, it's not easy, but you will come out the other end a better person. You only get one life, it's not a dress rehersal, and you are entitled to live it how you want.:o

Lecture over, Sunny here this morning. Had a lovely evening out with Aunt and Uncle. terrific meal. Went to bed at 12. Aunt got up five times in the night, banged bedroom door, put on light in bathroom, and woke me every time:eek: Still woke at seven though.:o

Got my son's Godmother coming tomorrow, so early night for me tonight!:rotfl:

They are both asleep still, have got brekkie ready, think I'll go and have a shower next.

OH wasn't here, gone to the Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday. He was really chuffed at seeing Button and Hamilton. Button is his fav.:T

Anyway, have a great day all.

    Morning :hello:

bramble1 I don't know what to say, hope you're ok though xxx

Oh Hester I remember the Katy stories, they were hilarious! Sometimes though, I was  :rotfl:

Another peaceful day here, mr tru is going to a fun day up the hill, it's-a-knockout stylee from what I can make of it. Tried to persuade me to go, errrrmmm no thanks, not my idea of fun at all :D I assume master tru will be in bed all day, he came home at 6.30 this morning, drunk and drinking a can of Stella. I know he's had a rubbish year so far but that's a bit much. Miss tru will be here but there's never any dramatics from her - well, hardly ever :D

The family row has escalated, BIL is throwing tantrums and accusing others of doing things that they don't actually do, but he does!!! I was raging last night, this morning I go between  and :rotfl:

I'm pottering around the garden this morning. Some of the peas are ripe so they need picking, I'll check the berries too. There's also plenty of weeds to keep me busy :D The weather looks good at the moment so the piggies can go out for a decent run around.

    Good Morning All

    (((Bramble)))

Have been mia this week as it has just been so busy, also we all came down with a rather nasty tummy bug :( feeling much better now though :j

Yesterday I was in my office all day getting the vat done - very bad of me to leave it too late - never again. Today OH & his mate are working in the garden staining the fences. DS will prob play out and DD will have a lazy day as she worked last night. I will have a pottering day, need to do a little bit of washing and a lot of ironing.

We have roast pork for dinner today with all the trimmings, I will definitely be working out a menu plan this week. Its a lot easier now DD has broken up from college.

Oh and I also need to clean all the windows - the rain we have had this week was so dirty

Anyway, thats it from me, have a great day all.x

Yesterday did the l!dl shop. Bought 5 ys goats cheese, 4 in the freezer. L!dl does do nice cheeses :P then heard bbq called off due to heave rain (well sorta guessed cos it was torrential and cold) so s@d the housework planned and we trotted off in our raincoats to blues festival. Didnt rain, sun came out, had lovely burger in fave posh burger place with oh, saw some fab bands :D
Only down side is no fairies came to do house while we were out. Bbq postponed till 1:30 today, oh's biking buddy on fone invitingher off for a ride so guess i'm doing it on my own. Will go to flylady, get list and go into whirling dervish mode. Then footie invite so all good.
    Hugs to all xxx
