For example, nPower will not let you switch tariffs with them let alone through comparrison sites so do not show up in the results if you select them as your current supplier.
For info, I asked nPower why I should stick with them when BG and PG are cheaper and they told me due to customer demand, that I could switch to their Online Saver rate no problem.0 -
Hi I am with Scottish Power for both Gas n Electric on their Capped Domestic Tariff until I beleive Sept 07. The rates are :
Capped Domestic Tafiff
Electricity
18.040p standing charge
6.285p per unit
Gas
20.410p standing charge
1.845p per unit
So it would seem the new Energy Saver 3 might be a better option at
Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 3
Electricity
11.83p standing charge
10.301p per unit
Gas
10.49p standing charge
1.878p per unit
I was going to wait until all the companies had lowered their prices before making a switch to the cheapest for me. I am kinda new to all this switching but If I changed to the new Energy Saver 3 will that tie me into Scottish Power or will I still easily be able to change without incurring any charges.
I did register to be able to view account online but I am not sure if this makes me an Online customer....does anyone know ?
Does anyone know of a good reason why I shouldnt change to the new Energy Saver 3 for now at aleast ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
Just for your information I haver just rang Scottish Power about the Online Saver 3 and they told me the details were :
Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 3
Electricity
13.34p standing charge
7.29p per unit
Gas
12.59p standing charge
2.138p per unit
so not the figures stated on earlier in this link ! Due to this they have advised me not to change to this traffice from the capped one I am currently on."The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
I am sure someone will clarifty this but when posters quote the tariff, is it not the case that there are different tariffs for different regions. The regions reflecting the old, Midlands electricity or North West Gas. There is a supply code on your bill which shows this.
Therefore to make a fair comparison, it is important to know which region you are quoting for.
Or am I wrong?0 -
Yes it does depend where you live I've just had a quote as my cap comes off on 1st May
11.83 standing charge and 10.301 per unit Electricity
10.49 standing charge and 1.878 per unit Gas
It's hard to know what to do prices will be capped till May 2008 but if the prices come down apparently the price does lower
Sorry that's Manweb area0
