New Scottish Power Tariff!!!
Comments
-
Hy guys, I have been sent a letter inviting me to sign up to the new online capped deal from the 1st April when my current capped deal ends, the rates quoted are, Elec- service charge = 11.27p - all day units kwh = 9.810p . Gas- service charge = 9.99p - allday units kwh = 2.497p.
This compares to my current deal of Elec- service charge = 15.96p - all day units kwh = 7.181p . Gas- service charge = 14.68p - allday units kwh = 1.330p.
So although the daily service charge is less, both electric and gas look a lot dearer.
Any advice on my best move, as if I don't take the new capped deal prior to April 1st, I will return to the standard tarrif electric and gas prices ?
I called Scottish Power this morning but a young sounding advisor, new nothing about the "Online energy saver Three" quoted here this morning.
Thanks.0 -
The energy saver 3 is from their on-line department.
If you ring back and ask to speak to that department they do know about it, and can arrange for you to go on it when it starts.
The original post in this thread is misleading.
Existing Scottish Power customers can't "just phone and swich instantly".
As posted above, the new tariff doesn't come into effect till 5/4/07.0 -
I have to disagree with you there Quentin.
Some companies i.e. British Gas, Scottish Power do pay commision to these comparrison sites for changing tariffs therefore you will get the cash back. And it doesn't just come down to whether the site gets commision. If the account goes live you will get the cash back. If you get rejected you don't its that simple.
I'm sure not all comparrison sites work the same but there is no harm in phoning them to ask what the terms and conditions are.0 -
You are misleading us - as you did when you told us in your original post that any existing Scottish Power customers could phone up now and get "instant" savings.
All the cashback paying comparison sites clearly state that the switch must be to a new supplier. I already quoted Simply Switch.
This is what money supermarket's conditions say:£17.50 cashback will be paid once for either a single gas, or single electricity change to a new supplier.
If using a cashback comparison site to just switch tariffs with an existing company could get us all £30 a time, don't you think it would be number one tip in every MSE newsletter?0 -

I wouldn't go as far as saying the post was misleading, you can phone and apply for this, maybe not get it instantly but you can get it. I must be getting too excited with all these price reductions
The number I call Scottish Power on is 0845 270 6543 and they no all about it and was able to give me the unit costs and standing charges for my area0 -
I just called back using a freephone number 0800400200 to the online department, the advisor told me that although she was aware of the new "Energy saver three" tarrif she could not sell or advise on it, she told me to go to uswitch and sign up there !.
I surely can't sign up with scottish power via uswitch if I am already a customer of scottish power.
This is begining to hurt my head.0 -
Ok Quentin looks like we'll have to agree to disagree
Phone Moneysupermarket.com and ask them as I use them all the time.
Like I said maybe not "instant" savings, but my intentions were true.0 -

They are being awkward.
One way to get them to do something would be to first ask to get put you on to the current energy saver 2 tariff.
Then when you are put through to the right department, make sure they mark your account to be switched when the new tariff comes into force next month.
The problem is arising because the switching brokers have been informed of the new tariff now as any switches coming from other suppliers won't be completed until after the 5/4/07 start date, but the general call centre agents at Scottish Power aren't fully briefed yet.0 -

Why do we need to agree to disagree?
You now agree you were mistaken when saying existing customers could get "instant savings".
You ask me to phone moneysupermarket, but I have already quoted from their cashback conditions - see post # 15. You only get cashback from them for switching to a new supplier.
Nothing that they say over the phone can change their conditions.0 -
Like I said maybe I jumped the gun with "instant" savings so I apologise. I'm very sorry Quentin
If you dig a little deeper with these comparrison sites you will find out I am correct regarding the cash back. Phone them if you don't believe me.
Why would British Gas come top off the list if i'm already with British Gas? Because its an online tariff. Why bother using the comparrison site to switch then? Because you get cash back for it. :rolleyes:0
