Just came home and checked Aldi receipt and I have been charged for an electrical item at £44.95 and I have not got this item and didn't want it, how has this happened. Is the bar code on another item wrong? Will they be able to check their stock and see that I never bought it and refund me. Has anybody else had this problem?

Have to say I think you will have a difficult job proving anything.

How did you not notice the bill was nearly £50 higher?

How many items do you have

How many items are on the receipt.

If they are the same, then a barcode is wrong.

Take them all back tomorrow and get them to check them.

How did you not realise that your bill was a lot bigger than it should have been.

  • I was in a hurry and didn't even register the amount until I got home and thought, no way have I just spent that on my shopping.Hopefully the stock check will prove I didn't take the item.It would be difficult to take the shopping back as half of it has been eaten by my hungry teenagers already!!

Well get all the empty packets together so that they can check the bar codes, its your only defence.

I wouldnt rely on the stock check either.

Say one of the staff was a bit iffy, realises and has it away with the item that is now spare, hence stock check is perfect.

You didnt answer, how many items on the reciept, how many items in the bag, are they the same or do you have an extra item on the reciept.

I got charged for 2 packs of apples the other day too, not quite as bad but still miffed :(
  • We did a check against the items.A bunch of spring onions is missing from receipt. Only a four digit code number no bar code.A PLU number I believe it is called. This is a similar number to the electric cultivator I supposedly bought. well first two numbers are the same. So the bunch of Spring onions will be going back with the receipt.

I had this happen to me at a different supermarket last year. I bought one bottle of spirits and it got put through twice. I think it was quite deliberate. A stock check would show that two bottles were paid for.

Unfortunately, it was the last shop before we headed off for a week away so it was a bit hectic. It was only the next day that something started niggling about how much the shopping had cost and the way the cashier had been behaving that I checked the receipt.
  • Receipt will have exact time you went through the checkout so maybe they could look on CCTV to prove you bought spring onions and not an electrical item.

Good luck, I have always found Aldi helpful. Let us know how you get on.

Wish I'd thought of that last year. I thought it would be my word against the cashier.
