£200 off the car loan! WHOOP!

newmum - unbelievable, that sort of emotional blackmailing is akin to a bully. better for you not to have a bully of a neighbour.

people like that really get my goat, because nice people would never ask for things like that from people they know will find it hard to say no. they are manipulative !

DO NOT GET INVOLVED. SHE IS AN EMOTIONAL VAMPIRE AND WILL SUCK EVERYTHING SHE CAN OUT OF YOU.

IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?

    Evening PADders!

Poppong in with £14.80 for me today plse, to the virgin cc.

Wow what a big PAd timetofacethemusic, and great to have another loan bite the dust.

Newmum1 - I agree with other posters. Your neighbour obviously needs financial help sorting out her debts but it's certainly not up to you to get her another loan, you aboslutely did the right thing but how awful to be put in that position.

Newmum, I think what your neighbour has done in asking you is unforgivable - she is not going to be able to pay you back is she! not if she can't pay her own loans. The same thing is only going to happen in a few weeks. In truth repossesion could be her way out, possibly rehoused with some equity to pay off her debts. Don't even think about giving in.

Mini PAD of 28p to the change jar for me today.

My thoughts exactly! I wont give in as Im trying to get my own debts sorted out not increase them.

Feeling :( cos I cant contribute to the £20K target - only got £1.04 in account to last til pay day ( Friday) when I will of course be back :) gets me so  that here I am on a good salary working my ars* off and yet getting excited about finding 5p in the car park. Roll on Friday :)

I know that feeling. I think I have £3 left in my account till tuesday and without checking the spreadsheet I've no idea where it went :eek

And like now I have more things to pay (like electric going up £20 this month) and a new mobile contract (see Martin's email..LOL....couldn't get out of the contract but got a 9 month early upgrade :D) and sky going up cos like the 6 month discount rate has stopped (so much for TV license going down LOL)

Hi all only a small pad today £2.00

Yesterday I awoke to find a note from my neighbour asking me to call round, she is a pensioner so I thought maybe she has injured herself, I went round and she asked me to take out, (yep youve guessed it) a provident loan for her of £500 for her as she is on her last chance as the mortgage is due out of her account today and her payday company had cleared her account out.

I explained to her in not so many words that I am not in a position to take out a loan for her and gave her the contact number for the credit union. She said that she has already tried them alongside other payday loan companies, her children, her mother and her companion and all the other neighbours.

She did not seem to want to take no for an answer I went home and agreed to call the provident rep. I called the rep and explained that I do not have an income and it would be irresponsible of her to loan me this money. She agreed, I asked why she wont give my neighbour a loan and she told me that my neighbour already has 4 loans and is struggling to pay them back. I then ended the call.

I think that my neighbour put me in an awkward position and has overstepped the mark again previously she asked me to take out a payday loan for her which I declined. Her family will not lend her any money as they know that she does not pay it back.

The funny thing is Im trying to become debt free not increase my debt for somebody else who appears to be in a destructive cycle. The funniest line she said to me was how would I feel if I lost her as a neighbour if her house gets reposessed...........I mean come on I'd live wouldnt I, I just cant believe she tried to put her debt and worries onto me.

Really try and be nice but firm about it to your neighbour. If you have to avoid her avoid her. It's simple. Debt is not cool. As someone else said (and I agree) 3 weeks down the line it'll be the same thing. And yes, you may lose a neighbour but still. You'll get someone else. Maybe better? Maybe worse. Worry about it when it happens. Old age or anything is no excuse for her behaviour. You simply can't help out. I hardly ever gave money to charity when in debt. Now I'm out of debt and if I have it it's completely different. But I try and live not beyond my means so I can give to charity and not worry about it :) Please don't feel you have to give in to her manipulations. And if she tries to manipulate you tell her. Maybe she lacks the insight? I would personally. I would say stuff like 'I hear you but you really need help managing the finances and go somewhere like Christians against poverty or another DMP and get sorted and you may be able to keep the house. Sorry I'm in debt myself and can't help you. And no, the amount of debt I'm in is, correctly, none of your business as it's personal. Yes, I hear you I may earn more than you but I'm still in debt and I still have to budget. You have to learn the same. Maybe this will be your lightbulb moment and you'll thank me in years to come'...

    Something along those lines...

    Hope that helps..Hugs

PS. Whoever is padding and counting their regular payments :j...I did it in the end. I also count charity giving. Basically whatever was my 'target debt' (if that makes sense) as per debt snowball, I counted...
