Help - QVC will not co-operate!

So on page 3 you now tell us you visited another person to get a valuation.
Anything else in the closet to tell us ?
I said in my original post that I tried to keep it short. And perhaps yes, I did exclude that fact, but it does NOT make any differance to the fact that I have two opinions to say they are fake!
Surely this isn't the best that you can post is it??
Stop watching the detective programs and offer useful advice to people that are being ripped off by the big companies!
Sorry for the rant, but you really should be in the corner of people using this forum and not looking for non-existant problems.0 -
However, there is something else I did not mention in my original post (I was still trying to keep it short!).
I had been to another autograph collector in the very first instance.
He told me that in his own opinion, they were fake signatures (I actually almost had a row with him, as I said QVC should surely be reputable and not have sold something that was even remotely fake. They would have done all the right checks etc, said I. Thinking he was trying it on and make me a silly offer, but no.
In effect, I have had two independant assessments, both saying the same thing, but only one of them is affiliated to any sort of organisation.
In post #4 it was suggested you need to get another opinion...I don't see how a dealer who was interested in purchasing the items, can be considered an independent expert. As this whole story hinges on that I think a proper valuation would be the best thing to do next.Ideally you would have an expert opinion of whether the items are fake from someone unconnected to any potential sale.
I wish I could have sent them on to someone else, but even Googling for such, doesn't reveal many in the UK who do as such.
You had plenty of opportunity to do so, but chose not to.
No doubt you will now accuse me of chasing the wrong thing, or somesuch, but it doesn't matter to me... I'm out!0 -
Just out of interest in what way do they class them as fake? completely different signatures or copied. I remember a few years back watching some of these various programmes on QVC with limited edition items and they always seemed to sell them as prints with however many available. To me watching if they had 10/20 available and with being classed as prints I wouldn't expect anything more than a copy of the print, afterall a print would just be that.
I don't think they ever sold anything like that in singles with only one available.0 -

Completly different signatures from the one the 'expert' has on file.
For example, this is what one of the scanned certificates I have state;
"This is to certify that the enclosed memorabilia
Lord of the Rings (Aragorn)
Viggo Mortensen signed photo
is authentic, originally hand-signed item and is unconditionally guaranteed as to it's authenticity."
And then it is signed by Darren Epstein, CEO Cards Inc.
It was after all a one off special for Lord of the Rings, but I seem to remember that they may have done something similar for Star Wars as well.

Amazing!
In post #4 it was suggested you need to get another opinion...
In post #14 the same suggestion was made...
In post #27 you respond (not that you haven't before) implying that it would've been good to have a second opinion...
I actually find it staggering that throughout this thread you have not thought to mention that you did indeed have a second opinion on the authenticity of the items.
You had plenty of opportunity to do so, but chose not to.
No doubt you will now accuse me of chasing the wrong thing, or somesuch, but it doesn't matter to me... I'm out!
Ok, you've highlighted a few examples of where I said one thing and then said something else. Does that change the fact?
I did write in my initial post that I was trying to keep in brief.
Ok, I accept that when asked why didn't I seek another opinion, I didn't mention the original dealer.
The reason was that in his own words, he was doing this part-time and wasn't what he considered to be an expert, hence he would not provide me with a written report.
So to keep my opening thread as brief as possible, I omitted that because I thought all forum readership would take this for what it was. He was a lay-person and his opinion did not count.
An expert giving his 'professional' opinion, QVC who do not provide anything to counter that, have gotten away with taking my money in the first instance, and then after 11 weeks, failed to refund me.
So what am I exactly guilty of?
I missed a bit of the story, that whilst you and others may have been happy with me to include (and asleep before the end) and no doubt dismissed because of his role, others would have no doubt picked up on the fact that he admitted that he was no expert. So they would have once again said to me, get a second opinion. So back to where I was already.
I obviously cannot please everyone in the story I am telling.
I'm only trying to convey that QVC are accused of selling something that was fake and not doing or perhaps not keeping the records legally required of them. That they after over a year, have never provided their own expert to contradict my report and now they have everything, I have no refund in exchange as they promised.
They are the facts.
I am sorry you have taken the offence to my defence (but DCFC79 comment did feel accusatory), but all I ever wanted was informed advice from the readership based on the above facts.
Who said what and when is irrelevent. The facts remain the same.
You need to look beyond the insignificant.
The law would not be interested in my omission (the first person was not an expert, he just gave me something to think about) and it does not change anything.
Thank you for once again taking the time to read this.0 -
Just a thought...........
How would anyone actually confirm that they are fakes ? Whats the procedure for doing this ? Do they contact the person and ask them if they remember signing them ? How could they prove that they are fakes ?
My signature varies from day to day !0 -

Looksguywalker is correct.
I also seem to remember when the expert I used was on BBC's Fake Britain with Dominic Littlewood (originally broadcast 17th May 2011, Series 2 Episode 2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b011f4r9), he used acetate sheets that had certified real signatures on, and then he could overlay on one's that he was authenticating.
Therefore he was able to see how close (or not) they were to the real thing.
Many thanks for reading this.0 -
OP my last comment was a "oh now you tell us" but it wasn't accusatory at all(wasn't meant to be), i just wondered why you didnt mention it before (which you answered).
