  • Unless I have a mammoth PayPal chargeback overnight, I've made it :j:j:j:j:j

My to-do list today had two things on it: 1) pack and post orders and 2) file the flatbacks into cabinets. By the time I called it a night at 6pm, it had grown to 12, four of which were unfinished!

I blame the phone call from the one jewellery making magazine that I advertise with - they offered me an upgrade to a quarter page at 60% off ratecard plus featuring some of my stuff in the editor's choice section, but they needed samples for the photographer ASAP, so I had to run around getting that organised. Tomorrow I need to get my head out of Christmas and into Valentine's day and come up with a really eye-catching photo for the advert. I have an idea of what I want to do, I'm just not sure how well it'll work.
  • Absolutely amazing on all counts! Congratulations!!! xx

  • Ahem.

Ladies and gentlemen, cash banked for the business in the month of November totalled......

    (wait for it :D)
    £9,339.84

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
(Just a bit pleased with that!)

Anyway, some quick scores on the doors as I have 32 orders to pack (last time I checked, it's probably gone up by a couple more!)

    Business
    Overdraft: -£-4077.70 / -£5175.89 -£1098.19

    Business total: -£4077.70 / -£5175.89 -£1098.19

    Personal
    Overdraft: -£1146.07 / -£1415.93 -£269.86
    Egg card: -£3020.00 / -£3020.00 no change
    Barclaycard: -£2370.00 / -£2370.00 no change
    Nationwide card: -£2540.00 / -£2540.00 no change

    Personal total: -£9076.07 / -£9345.93 -£269.86

    Grand total: -£13,153.77 / -£14,521.82 -£1368.05

Not brilliant, but then I have spent £3528.70 from the business account this week  and the personal account spend was mainly my brother's birthday present and Finn's ulcer meds - those totalled £216.37, the accidental box of chocolates was £19.95 and the rest (£66.94) was the weekly Tesco shop.

Off to do my orders, please please please let these sales continue for a bit longer!!

  • Sobering thought for the day: the November business bankings would have completely paid off my personal debt.

My former Egg card, now a Barclaycard, has offered me a current account transfer today, 0% until June next year. I'm thinking of taking it to get rid of the overdraft at 19.9%. The plan would be to 1) work out my cashflow forecast for the remaining big bills coming up as detailed in an earlier post, 2) take that amount as a transfer plus £500, 3) make £500 my new '£0' and cancel the £4050 overdraft facility on the current account. That would leave all my debt at 0% apart from the original Barclaycard which is 6.9% life of balance.

I've also been offered an RBS business credit card - 0% on purchases for 15 months, no annual fee, but I'm not going to take that as I think I'd be better off keeping my credit application powder dry for when the 0% periods start coming to an end.

These things are sobering, aren't they?

The transfers and getting all your debt onto 0% sounds like a good plan. I know it's helped me.

One of my cards ends the 0% deal in April..another spur to get it all paid off as I don't want to pay a new BT fee.

  • Not all the invoices are in yet, but I've been doing the accounts today and I guesstimate that this month's profit is around £2700 :j:j:j

The PayPal account is looking healthy after a regular Irish customer placed a £200 order on my website this morning :T:T:T

In January and February this year, I was seriously worried that I wouldn't still be in business by now, but something I've done has managed to turn things around and now I'm really optimistic that I can grow this into a proper company :)
