Well, after trying to nick Merlin's supper last night and getting told to Foxtrot Oscar via the medium of teeth, Finn now has a lump the size of a goose egg on his back, so I haven't got on him again yet. Truth be told, I'm still achey myself, so it can wait a few more days. It has helped me clarify things in my own mind though - I owe it to Finn to get to the bottom of what's causing this sensitivity before I start spending money on new horses. It turns out that Kessock Equine in Inverness has recently bought a scope capable of doing gastric scopes. I contacted them for a quote today and it came in at £387 plus £100 to my friend to take us down and back in her trailer. If he does turn out to have ulcers then we'd be looking at a minimum of a month on full dose Gastrogard followed by a month of quarter dose. The cheapest I can find Gastrogard online is £153.99 for seven syringes (a full dose for Finn would be 2/3rds).
Rather than run up the overdraft further, I'm going to wait until I've got the overdraft paid off and the cash saved - it means delaying paying the cards off a little bit, but this really does need doing for Finn's comfort and my peace of mind as I'd really prefer not have any more falls like the one on Sunday.
Sales are still ticking over nicely, another £200 order on the website today and my flatbacks arrived this afternoonI paid myself in full :T and the first card payment of the month (Nationwide) has been made too. If the business could pay me the other £1100 it didn't pay me last month, then my NatWest account would be £450 in credit. Come on customers!!

Hi Caz
Well I think the cards can wait if it's for Flinn to be happier. It's the not knowing that's the worst bit. I hope you get sorted soon.
It's not to say your other horse won't be available, he may still be around when Flinn's sorted. Fate

Sheikh Maktoum seems to have plenty of drugs to spare .
Hope it's sorted soon. Poor soul.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Mr Caz has shaken off the lurgy quite nicely by himself and it was obviously a different strain to the one I had on holiday, because he's shaken it in my direction and I'm coming down with it now!!
I was in the year below Princess Haya at school, but I don't think she'd thank me for getting in touch and asking if she had any Gastrogard she wanted shot of quietly right nowActually, I'm sorry she's been caught up in this, when I knew her she was utterly devoted to her horses and even if she knew what her husband was up to I don't believe for a second she would have condoned his actions.

Right, proper update for the day - it's been a bit non-stop thanks to some good sales (over £400 banked, which is fab for a Wednesday :j) and another stock delivery. I got the minions up for sale and 5% of them went in the first two hours
, also did some new artwork for my advert in the Christmas edition of Make & Sell Jewellery magazine.
Tomorrow is going to be much the same. I've got the rest of the flatback order to photograph and list (just plain rounds, hearts and stars in various sizes - boring to deal with and a pain to bag up, but should be steady sellers once I build up a decent range of colours), more stock to order, some rose quartz beads to sort out (that's been on the to-do list for a fortnight now), some snowflake obsidian cabochons to photograph and list and that's just the immediately outstanding stuff, the proper to-do list would take me about a month to get through if I didn't have the day to day picking and packing of orders to deal with too! Still, I shall keep chomping my way through that elephant, a mouthful at a time.
I thought it might be helpful to find out how long Finn's been cribbing for. I've spoken to the dealer his previous owners bought him from 7 years ago and he was doing it then. This evening I've emailed his breeder, she had him until he was 4 or 5, so if she remembers whether he was doing it or not when he left her then I either have a date for it starting or I can say it definitely started between two dates. The boys aren't too happy with this wind; they're going to be even less happy tomorrow when the rain starts as well. I think I'll have to get their rugs out, give them a new section of grass and put some hay in the shelters; that'll cheer them up a bit.0 -
Got the rose quartz beads sorted - that's the to-do list up to date as far as last Friday
I'm afraid I've spent most of the rest of today emailing people to ask about my pony and have been having some VERY interesting conversations. He wasn't cribbing when he left his breeder (who was delighted to hear from me and wants me to keep in touch), he was by the time he arrived at the owner after the person who bought him from the breeder, who's the only one who hasn't replied to my email. Asking around, this is more likely to be because she rarely checks her email than for any nefarious reasons, but she owns a riding school so I can easily get a phone number for her if needs be. One person was kind enough to share the details of a nutritionist who's really helped a pony they have with similar problems, so I've sent them an email this evening as what she said helped hers is about a 10th of the price of Gastrogard and doesn't require a prescription. Fingers crossed.
Better head upstairs now before Mr Minx gets convinced I'm chatting up strange men on the internet (he worries about things like that, bless him). See you in the morning for some probably pretty horrible scores on the doors!0
