Ooer that could have been really nasty. Thank goodness for Mr M's submariner nose! Following on from Knit Witch's point I'm wondering if the woodburner was there when you bought the house? But it's curious that the problem only manifested itself now.

It was fitted about five or six years ago by someone we know and trust, but he was in the middle of being diagnosed with a serious heart condition at the time and so a lot more of the work was done by his mate than it would have been normally. He's mostly retired now, we haven't taken any pictures and to be honest, if I were to sue anybody, I'd never get another tradesman in the house again, as word would travel!

Pete and James are here and the new flue and flexible liner are in place. The only major hitch so far has been when flue was being pulled up the chimney; there was a loud rumbling clank and then the bottom section of the original concrete chimney liner fell out into the living room in several pieces, but with a flexible liner going all the way up to the pot now, that's not so important.

  • All done and working :) Despite Pete being here for nearly 5 hours, he's refusing to charge us anything on the grounds that we're providing him with a lot of work re-roofing the house down the road in the spring. Mr Minx has been out this afternoon and bought him a very nice bottle of whisky to say thank you!

I have a confession to make - I went clothes shopping on eBay last night and put loads of bids in on auctions. Woke up this morning to find myself the proud new owner of two Abercrombie & Fitch long-sleeved tops, one Fat Face half-zip sweatshirt and some Joules jeans for the grand total of £7.46 including postage :D

Nice! :) I bought a pair of jeans a couple of weeks ago for ~£5 including shipping, you're clearly better at bargain hunting than me.
  • Wow! ACE shopping! :T

Oh, thank you :o:) The blog is here but it's a bit quiet at the moment as the solicitors are still doing their thing. I did send an email this morning to ask if there was a chance of getting the keys before Christmas, so fingers crossed.

I'm slowly catching up with the work backlog. The educational project finished today and I've got 20 minutes through Journalist #3's file, which I'll finish tomorrow morning, I hope. NEL has sent me 62 minutes to do by Friday and I've had a fair bit through from Mr RPC today as well.
  • Thank you I am planning to start at beginning although writig that I now feel like a stalker!!:rotfl:

Which I am not you are just very inspirational.

    Thanks again
  • Educational project finished and invoiced, Journalist #3 finished and invoiced, both quick payers, so that will hopefully be £345 in my account before Christmas :D
  • Ace work lady! :T
