  • Deleting and reinstalling is how I got it working this time :) I was surprised though - I had a clean up of old apps I don't use any more and when I removed the eBay app, which was installed on the SD card rather than the main phone, it freed up nearly 20MB from the main phone memory, no idea why!

Anyway, just flying in to say that (a) my bargain eBay clothes have arrived and all look fab and (b) we concluded missives on the crofts today :D We won't get the keys this side of Christmas, because the transfer paperwork has to be signed and registered with the Crofting Commission, but hopefully it won't be too long now.
  • Congrats on the crofts being finalised! :)

  • The universe has been financially kind today.

First stop in town was the agricultural merchant where I needed an iodine-based antiseptic spray for horse and sheep feet and a tub of standard Crystalyx sheep supplement. Found the spray, all four bottles on the shelf had a 'best before' date of 2013, but they looked absolutely brand new, so since the batch number ended /18 I assumed it was a typo and took it up to the counter anyway to ask. They looked it up on their computer, found it probably wasn't a typo and asked if I'd like it for £5 instead of the £11.60 it was priced at - yes please :) Drove round the back to collect my Crystalyx from the warehouse and the stores man told me he'd just loaded the last of the standard ones into the guy ahead of me in the queue, so he'd give me one of the more expensive high-energy ones for no extra charge :D

Quite chuffed, we went to our regular Saturday lunch venue, where they were having a busy day. They've got a girl who helps them out sometimes on weekends, I'm not sure how old she is, but I'd guess 15 or 16. Last time she took our order, my chicken mozzarella burger turned up as a Cajun burger and I didn't say anything, but when it happened again today, I pointed out to the lady who brought the food out that there'd been a mistake. Turned out the waitress hadn't realised there were two different chicken burgers on the menu! So I munched on the bowl of chips while they made me my order - by the time it came out, Mr Minx had finished. They offered us free desserts to apologise, but we were both stuffed, so they took my burger off the bill instead :D

Then it was Tesco time and we had a £9 off when you spend £60. Normally this means we end up spending well over £100, but today we managed to get it to £62 before the voucher came off. :D

I was going to ask Mr Minx to buy me the paint to decorate our bedroom with for Christmas, but having seen that a 5l can of Farrow & Ball Cooking Apple Green is now £65 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I think I'm going to have to find something I like in Johnstone's instead!!!!

    Today's list of jobs:

    • [strike]Launder everything that needs to go on the outdoor line[/strike]
    • [strike]At least an hour of field mucking out[/strike]
    • [strike]Check lights on car ahead of MOT test tomorrow[/strike]
    • [strike]Close down eBay shop (only a dribble of sales coming through now and I don't want any 'I ordered this for Christmas and it didn't arrive' emails next week)[/strike]
    • [strike]Pack up family presents for posting tomorrow[/strike]
    • Clean living room
  • Wow great work on purchases, and massive congratulations about the croft too! Brilliant news! (And the clothes arriving too, for that matter!)

From personal experience I'd avoid Johnstones paint like the plague - we bought some in a sort of a plum shade for a single wall in the front room a few years back - it simply had to go over a white base coat - but regardless STILL took 7 coats before it stopped looking patchy...

  • That's interesting - Mr Minx has done a couple of rooms in Johnstone's and really likes it!

Took the car in for its annual service and MOT today - it passed the MOT :D:D but they were running behind schedule. Mr Minx had asked if there was any chance they could MOT the truck, since the engine warning light is currently off (intermittent fault that the diagnostic computer doesn't seem to think exists), so they suggested that he brings the truck in tomorrow morning, drives my car home and then we both go back in the afternoon and settle our respective bills.

Even without that, today ended up being quite expensive - £100 in Tesco, £19 in the tack shop for a bag of feed (though that should last about 4 months!) and I picked out some brown paddock boots for Mr Minx to buy me for Christmas to replace my old brown shoes which are really on their last legs. Also £13.99 in Wetherspoon's for my office Christmas lunch :p
  • Congratulations on closing the ebay shop too!

  • It's not CLOSED closed, just temporarily closed to avoid any angry "I ordered this on Christmas Eve, why has it not arrived in time for Christmas?" emails ;) The domain hosting for the old shop website is due for renewal in early January and I didn't fancy shelling out another £36 for the year, but do still need to keep the domain for the email addresses, so I had a chat with my hosting people and while they can't combine that old hosting account with my new one (which holds the transcription website and the house renovation website), they said it was perfectly possible to back up my files, cancel the old hosting account and then set up the domain as an add-on to the new one. I've put the cancellation request through and am waiting for the DNS record to clear before I can put it back up - the website has disappeared on my laptop but not on my PC, which is a bit odd. I may have to contact their support again, they've been incredibly helpful so far :)

Anyway, good news yesterday, (a) the bill for my service and MOT only came to £198, (b) Mr Minx paid it when he swapped the car for the truck (though he owes me money for Saturday's Tesco shop, so we'll work out his share of that and then I'll transfer him the difference) and (c) the truck passed its MOT with no work needed!! We were over the moon, with our luck with cars we were expecting to open a can of worms, but the garage said that whoever had it before us has looked after it well and there's no reason it shouldn't go on for many more years, despite have nearly 125,000 miles on it. My car is having trouble starting, even after being indoors in the garage overnight, so I'm going to need my glowplugs replacing in the new year, which will be £80 plus labour.
