    Well done :)

While I was catching up here, DD2 told me she won a sweet in class for answering the final question in her Citizenship class correctly. I asked her what it was and she said the class was asked what an overdraft was. The other table got it wrong so she put her hand up and answered it..

Thank god some of this MSE malarkey is getting passed onto the next generation :) Just seemed a nice touch that I was reading your diary Caz as she popped in to tell me :)

  • Good for DD2 :D

So what's been happening over the past few days? I've been typing more or less non-stop, but managed to meet all my deadlines and had an interesting conversation with Mr RPC about a potential new job he'd like me to take on - I'll know slightly more about whether it's a goer or not after a meeting he's going to have on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

This weekend has been mainly lazy :o but given I did put in two 14-hour days when Mr Minx was away this week, I'm not beating myself up about it.

I do, however, have another shopping confession - EasyJet released the dates for our connecting flights down to London when we go on holiday next autumn, so I booked those (£222 to fly two of us Inverness to Gatwick with a hold bag each, which isn't too bad when you consider the outbound flight is a Saturday afternoon) and also my flights for my week with Mum in June (down to London, back from Bristol, worked out it was cheaper to buy Speedy Boarding and get an extra laptop bag in my cabin allowance than it was to have a hold bag, so £81 in total :D).

Of course, that was £303 that wasn't in this month's budget, the eBay sales have really slowed up, I'm not going to have much transcription work between 18th December and 4th January and I haven't saved up everything I need for my tax bill at the end of January yet - other than that, no worries!!!
  • You will find a solution, you always do :)

It will be nice if youc an put your feet up in between Christmas and New Year though.
    Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)

    Loan 1 £1787
    Loan 2 £1683
    Total £8601 Was £39302
  • That's a great tip on the speedy boarding giving you an extra bag allowance. I must remember that one! :T

Definitely no beating yourself up for a lazy weekend after the hectic week before it - good for you!

  • Rotten day yesterday. Here's a list of things that went wrong:

    1. Mr RPC has finally uploaded all the pictures he took of the team when we all met up last July. The other three girls look slim, tanned and glamorous. I look like a ruddy-cheeked hamster that's been in a wind tunnel. (It was a humid day, I have curly hair!)
    2. The wheelbarrow overbalanced when I was dragging it from the hardstanding to the muck heap, knocking me full length in 6-8" of liquid manure/mud mix. It seeped in through my waterproofs and filled my wellies.
    3. Whilst emptying my coat pockets to put it in the washing machine, I got liquid manure/mud all over the clean clothes I'd just changed into.
    4. I had quite an aggressive message from an eBay customer about a missing item (I rang her up in the end, she was very nice on the phone).
    5. As I left to take the post I noticed that the horses had broken a polypost on the electric fencing. Merlin had climbed into next door's field and Finn had his head buried in the sheep's Crystalyx supplement. Donned Mr Minx's wellies, ran down the field, opened the gates to let Finn join Merlin as the quick solution, went to the post office.
    6. WhatsApp is really not working well on my phone - when I got back in from doing the horses yesterday evening, I checked it (as I had been doing all afternoon) for any messages from Mr RPC. Nothing. 10 seconds later it started bleeping and delivered two messages from three hours earlier plus another more recent one asking why the earlier one hadn't been actioned.
    7. My lovely bargain clothes from eBay still haven't arrived. I've sent a very polite message to the seller to let her know.
    8. I am still not feeling remotely Christmassy and nor is Mr Minx. We have a big stack of unopened Christmas cards on the coffee table that neither of us feel up to tackling. I decided I'd better get on with the Christmas shopping last night and managed to get most of it done in one large Amazon shop, however when I tried to order John Lewis vouchers for my brother and his partner, the checkout crashed after I'd put my card details in, so I don't know whether it's gone through or not. As I've not had an email from them, I suspect it's not worked.
Still, Mr Minx came home and made sausage casserole, which always makes things better, and I got my card statement this morning and last night's shopping spree didn't register on it, so I don't have to pay for Christmas until February, which is a great help.

    Onwards and upwards :)
  • That was a long list :( However today is another day. Keep smiling.

What are you going to do re WhatsApp? That sounds like your phone hasn't had an internet connection to send them through?

  • Sorry about the rotten day! Nice about the small wins at the end, at least.

That's the weird thing, the broadband was definitely working fine because I was using the PC all afternoon with no problems. I've been looking at EE again this morning and they have finally put one handset that can do WiFi Calling onto Pay As You Go - hooray! The bad news is that it's the Harrier Mini and reading the reviews, I really don't want one, they're not very reliable. I'm sure more will come onto PAYG eventually. Annoyingly, it has to be the EE-specific build of Android to work, so I can't just go and buy what I want from somewhere like Carphone Warehouse and put it onto EE.

In the meantime, I've discovered that you can now access WhatsApp via the Chrome browser, but I need to update to the latest version of the app to link the two. Have just uninstalled half the apps on my phone and am trying to get it to work, wish me luck....
  • Ha, am technical genius, WhatsApp now working through Chrome.

Have also seriously shot myself in the foot, as just as the last bit was downloading to my phone and it all looked like it was going to go smoothly, Mr RPC pinged me on Skype and offered to pay for a phone that would work on his business account. Being me, and hating accepting anything off anyone, I said, "That's very lovely of you, but I think I've got it sorted." If it starts playing up again and EE are no further forward on PAYG models, I'll consider it.
  • Definitely to be considered if your current solution doesn't work out. You could also try deleting WA from your current phone and reinstalling?

Boo to the flat on your back in the gunk thing - that really is NOT a pleasant start to the day. Hope today is looking altogether more cheerful!
