The lovely, lovely guy at the garage wouldn't take a penny for fixing my car - he said it was a slightly loose heat shield, all he'd done was put an extra bolt in it and it would probably work loose again in four or five months, so he'd do it properly at the service in December. So I gave him a tenner and asked him to buy himself a nice bottle of wine or something.

What else? Little bit of work for Mr RPC today, nearly an hour of audio for NEL and some eBay orders. Tomorrow I've got an hour of summaries for the agency and I have another 74 minutes for NEL to be done by the end of Friday, so with more work to come from Mr RPC in all likelihood, that's me sorted - any spare time is going to be spent cleaning and tidying in advance of family coming up on Tuesday!

That restores my faith in humanity :) Lovely of the garage man.

Sounds like it's going to be a busy rest of the week for you. Are you enjoying doing the work?

Yes, some of this week's stuff has been really interesting and some of it has been really good-quality audio with speakers who didn't gabble, meaning I could almost type along without stopping at 100% speed.

Forgot to say earlier, I've been asked to join a special team at the agency that does files for one particular client - they're all special presentations on various business and economic topics, they get about 20 a week and they go to the top typists because they have to be completely accurate. Chuffed to have been asked to do it, not least because they're paid at a slightly better rate ;)

Currently sitting here feeling a bit battered though. I was feeding the boys earlier, came up the field with a rubber feed skip in each hand containing their supper and it started to rain, so once I was through the gate, where Merlin was waiting for me looking thoroughly disgusted at the wet stuff, I said, 'Come on, let's get you out of the rain,' and ran towards the sheltered bit of the field so he could tuck in between next door's house and the sheep pens to eat. He trotted after me, tried to take a mouthful out of the nearest skip and tripped me up. Vertical to horizontal in one move, I went down like a sack of spuds and faceplanted in mud, grass and old dock plants!! Amazingly he managed not to stand on me and even more amazingly he gave me a snuffle to make sure I was okay (I winded myself) before stepping round me to start eating his spilled supper! I seem to have taken the brunt of it on my left arm, but I think I'm going to have a bit of a bruise on my cheekbone!

Funnily enough I'm a bit stiff today :rotfl: Still managed to do an hour of summary for the agency, quarter of an hour of the last file of the week for NEL, eight eBay orders and got three flower beds tidied up - three more to do tomorrow, but they're the bigger ones and haven't really been touched this year.

Also have the dog's holiday home and a horse-sitter sorted for when we're away in Vienna.

Weekly scores - a bit pants, but at least the Royal Mail bill coming out on the 5th is now covered.

    Business
    Barclaycard: £1,050.00 / -£1,030.00 +£30.00

    Personal
    Halifax card: -£4,700.00 / -£4,700.00 no change

    Grand total: -£5,750.00 / -£5,720.00 +£30.00

And seeing as it's the last day of July, some monthly ones:

    Business

    Barclaycard: -£1,990.00 / -£1,030.00 +£960.00

    Personal
    Halifax card: -£4,750.00 / -£4,700.00 +£50.00

    Grand total: -£6,740.00 / £5,720.00 +£1,010.00

I'm not quite sure how I managed to pay that much off the Barclaycard, but I've double-checked it and it seems to be right!

I've had a crazily busy day. NEL asked me to stop working on the file I was doing for her and do a more urgent one at a higher rate - managed to get them both finished in the end, so I could include them on her July invoice.

Invoices drawn up and ready for sending tomorrow:
Agency - about £350, they need to make a couple of adjustments their end.
    Nice Elance Lady - £293.50
Mr Regular Private Client - £253.70
Occasional Agency - £53.20 (and I could have had a lot more work from them, I've just never been free when they've needed me)

    Total: £950.40

    Also invoiced this month:

    Journalist 1: £30.66
Spreadsheet project: £467.71 (which got paid two days ago, I've just noticed, woohoo!! Love it when you don't have to chase people :D)

    for a total of: £1,448.77

    Invoices overdue:
£204.20 (technically this isn't overdue, someone got mixed up and paid a June invoice instead of a May one, so this should get paid any day now)
£28.67 (chased this week, will chase again next week)

for a total of: £1,681.64 in income between 28th July and 31st August :D

NEL has already paid her invoice :D

Today has been the proper start of the Great Tidy Up prior to Mum and my brother arriving on Tuesday afternoon. Remember my horribly messy annexe? Well, Mum's supposed to be sleeping in there, so today Mr Minx and I have been blitzing the ground floor and it's virtually unrecognisable. I shall take some pictures tomorrow, once the sofa covers are dry and back on. I've even washed the floor! There's still too much stuff in there (quite a lot of it has just been taken upstairs :o) but seeing it look the way it does now has given me a massive boost to start sorting through all the boxes and throwing stuff out once guests have gone.

Also managed to wash and nearly dry four loads of laundry, so it's been a pretty productive day!
