No recommendations but I hope you have a nice time in Vienna. I'm not jealous, not one little bit... :rotfl:

You're okay, the only two opera performances on while we're there are both Verdi ;)
  • Oh, Flying Dutchman on the Friday night, but my flight doesn't get in until 30 minutes before the end!
  • My get up and go has completely got up and went today, I think I'm mentally already on holiday! Have done a few bits and pieces for Mr RPC, packed and posted my orders, done a load of laundry and stock-counted and listed all the suede reels, but it's been a complete struggle. Very tempted to go and play Hitman: Absolution for the rest of the afternoon (yes, I know I'm very behind the times, but I got it for something like £3 when Tesco was clearing out the last of their PS3 games recently!)
  • Oh, and I caught up with the accounts as well, so it hasn't been a totally unproductive day. Definitely allowed some gaming time then :D

I too am jealous - but in the case of my uncultured mind it's cake I am thinking of :D
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Apologies for being AWOL last night, but I was out celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary in the new Indian restaurant in Thurso :D

    Scores for the week:

    Business
    Barclaycard: £970.00 / -£780.00 +£190.00

    Personal
    Halifax card: -£4,700.00 / -£4,650.00 +£50.00

    Grand total: -£5,670.00 / -£5,430.00 +£240.00

Which isn't bad in itself, but if you sneak a look at my freshly-updated signature, not only has 'amount paid off' tipped over into the £22,xxx band, percentage paid off is now over 80% :D:D:D

  • Managed to get round Tesco for under £68 yesterday which is pretty good for us, given it included a bottle of whisky!

This morning was spent tackling docks next door. Three applications of chemical death have failed to do anything more than make them grow slightly corkscrew for a few inches and now they're all going to seed, so I spent three hours with a long-handled pair of edge trimming shears hacking them down and putting them on the muck heap ready for burning. I managed five barrowloads before my muscles told me to stop (all the squatting down to pick them up!), reckon I have another three or four to go. Mr Minx sorted out the lawn and then did the same our side, so hopefully we've stopped a mammoth dock invasion next year!

This afternoon has been spent typing up a celebrity interview for Journalist #2 and now I've got to iron Mr Minx's shirts for next week, feed the boys, muck out and then pack my eBay orders, because I'm looking after the village shop for a couple of hours tomorrow while James is at a funeral. (The funeral is the father of the lady who normally fills in for him, hence I'm an emergency replacement).
  • The village shop is still in one piece and I think I only undercharged two people :D

Haven't done much else today. 24 orders sent out, a tiny bit of work done for Mr RPC, sent an invoice to Journalist #2. Then mid-afternoon I got a draft offer through from my solicitor, who asked me to double-check that the plan did indeed show the fields I thought I was buying, so I had a look at the plan, had a look at Google Maps on satellite view and then stuck the dog on a lead and wandered off down the far end of the village to check that the one out on the point was the one I thought it was. It was, but the dog took off after a bird and her collar fell to pieces! Fortunately she had a Seresto flea/tick collar on as well, so I tied the old one to that and hoped she didn't pull too hard the rest of the way home. Even more fortunately we had a spare in the drawer that was too big for her when she first arrived as a 12-month-old - now it fits perfectly and she's looking very smart in a black collar with bronze buckle.
