Yay on the new client liking what you do!

Hmm re the money thing, is it worth checking to see if another bank doesn't have the same exchange rate problems and set up an account there for the transfer?
    Must use my stash up!

Argh, dilemma! Everyone I've checked is at £7 for transfers over £100 apart from First Direct (£6) and Santander (free). Now, after my utterly appalling experience with their business banking service, I swore never to go back to Santander again, but I'm thinking I should maybe give them a second chance?? The problem is that would mean I have four personal current accounts plus one business current account - I don't really want to switch away from First Direct and I don't particularly want to close my NatWest one either, as I've had it for nearly 30 years and that kind of history is useful if I ever need a quick lending decision. The third one is the offset one for the mortgage, which I can't close without redeeming the mortgage. I wouldn't really benefit from a 1-2-3 account even if I switched the bills over - the mortgage isn't Santander (and they couldn't get anywhere close to 1.6%), we don't pay water rates, the phone and broadband come out of Mr Minx's account and the balance of the bills account is rarely above £500 so no interest.

I shall sleep on it. Anyway, Mr Minx came trundling home with a repaired trailer today, four new bolts, two new hinges, one new J-bolt and they straightened out the jockey wheel where it had a bit of an accident after Mr Minx forgot about the big hump in the field...! £132, a bit more than I was hoping, but less than I feared :) I've said I'll pay for it, as Mr Minx is going to be repairing the tiny oil leak in the sump, but he took it into the garage for our lovely friendly mechanics to look at and they said that if they replaced the sump it would be about £500 because it's a pain in the behind to get to, but it was only a tiny spot of corrosion in one corner and what they'd advise doing is getting some patching stuff, driving the truck until the oil is hot then immediately draining it (which will burn off any gunk left inside) and patching that corner. He's going to give it a go, it'll cost about £40 in total, and if it works he's said he'll pay me back for the trailer work :T

NEL's first file of the week is finished and I'm now 30 minutes into the second one. New client has left me five star feedback :D:D:D and I've sent proposals for another couple of transcription jobs on Elance. I've also let the agency know that I want to go back to typing, but am happy to proofread until the end of the month to give them time if they need to recruit another proofreader (they added a couple more to the list recently, so hopefully they'll be okay). They've been very nice about it, completely understand my reasoning and have asked if I'd consider going back to proofreading if they could sort the rate out, which I'm more than happy to :) They're going to look into it and let me know.

Great news on the PR / typing and hopefully it'll work out beneficial either way. Re the accounts, do you just not want another one or would they not give you one if you applied until you've closed another? I agree re the 30 year plus account - don't close that one down :)

    Have a lovely day!

Today's update - one email typed for Mr RPC, one file proofread (but it was 6.5 hours of audio!), one 31 minute file typed, a bit more of NEL's second file typed up (and I'm going to do a bit more of it in a minute), 8 orders packed and posted and then one of my journalist clients emailed this evening to ask if I could do an hour and a half of interviews for her by Friday evening? Of course I can :D

I think my fingers may be about to drop off! The grand total today:

79-minute file typed for the agency (though it was an interpreter file - fewer actual words to be typed, but a lot more rewinding and replaying as I attempted to tune into the interpreter's accent and Google foreign place names!)
Remaining 30 minutes of NEL's file typed, proofread and uploaded (and a release request made for the $115.23 held in escrow)
Five emails typed for Mr RPC.
Now 13.5 minutes into the journalist files (turned out to be 107 minutes in total) and will keep going until I get tired enough that my fingers start working in the wrong order and swapping letters over in the middle of words!

See you in the morning :D

Just typed 'to' backwards three times in a row - time for bed! 33 minutes done, 33.42 left to go on this file and 36.17 on the other. Early start for me tomorrow then.
