  • Nope, didn't wake up to new work this morning, nor did I get anything through from the agency. Fortunately I have some work to finish for NEL and a bit to do for Mr RPC, though it's such a lovely day that I'm not really in the mood.

Some kind person bought 25 pairs of pliers from me on eBay, so that was another chunk off the overdraft.

Feeling a bit down today, despite the weather. It strikes me that the transcription, for all it doesn't tie me to the house any more, is still a job rather than something that can provide me with a passive income, and not a job that I can see paying enough to ever let me retire! I've got Friday afternoon booked off in my diary, as Scottish Hydro decided that my electrickery meter is so old that it needs replacing and are going to be sending someone to turn the power off and sort it all out, so time to get out a pen and paper and brainstorm a bit then.

(By the way - what's the betting he turns up, takes one look at our set-up, which has three supply numbers and two meters going to one bill, and says he has to reschedule??)

So what are you think? There's not a lot that I've ever come up with that provides me with an income for very little effort. I think you do fabulously given your rural (amazing!) location and how you are always busy. Is it just one of those days?

Given I've eaten half a toffee cake for lunch, I suspect hormones may be playing a part, yes ;)

Mr Minx brought it home last night, we had half for dessert, and it's supposed to feed eight, so I don't think I let the side down too badly by finishing off enough cake for four ;)

:T:T:T Am very, very proud of you :T:T:T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

You'll still have a few strings to your bow once the bead shop's gone. You're such a great communicator that getting back into writing is an obvious suggestion. Also you're a good photographer. Many streams (of income) make a river.

I can't see you being happy with a nine-to-five job. The portfolio / patchwork route gives you so much freedom and flexibility. You can take as much or as little work as you want, and it's early days with elance, you're still building your reputation. But you know all this.

I downsized my job to 21 hours a week about 10 years ago, and haven't regretted it despite taking a 40% cut in income. I'm single, so no partner to contribute to the bills - but still glad to have the time to myself to think, play and just be.

In the normal run of things you do amazingly well re keeping positive, and hammering down the debt. We're all allowed the occasional wibble about our earning capacity - and hurrah for the comfort of cake!

I've had a nice evening listening to Marijke de Jong's webinar on her Straightness Training programme - this is a system of training for horses based on the old French masters and is something I've been looking into for a while, but the home study course is nearly 300 euros and the mastery course (which a friend of mine is doing) is about 1,500 euros :eek: However, they were giving away one mastery place, five home study places and a few other things (beautiful leather cavesson, bareback pad etc.) to people selected from the webinar listeners - thought it was only going to be an hour, it ended up being two and a half, but it's been a fascinating evening and with only about 200 people joining in, the odds of winning something aren't that bad, so fingers crossed!

Another day, another dollar - or another $65 to be precise, as NEL has sent me some more work :D £80 banked from eBay and the overdraft is looking tinier by the day. Also, remember a few weeks back I said I was going to start putting £5 from every deposit into my bank aside as savings? Up to £55 already! Which might explain why money is feeling tight this month and is going to be even tighter than next month as my agency earnings are way, way, WAY down, but hey ho, I shall muddle through somehow.

Still feeling a bit 'meh' but am determined it's going to be head up, shoulders square, back straight and keep marching forwards :)
