Just catching up as I'm busy being "off" lol. I do love your diary Caz, you're totally organised and focussed and it makes me feel the same. So pleased things are coming together for you and other options are presenting themselves. Fabulous news on the OD too. Nerve wracking and thoroughly fabulous all at the same time.Debt - CCV £3792

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

No, they didn't! Really! Honestly! You're imagining things!

The business manager phoned me back today, we had a nice chat, she wished me luck and said please do contact her if I ever need any further business finance or start up a new venture, as she'd be delighted to help, which is great. The overdraft officially expires on 1st May, unofficially she says it'll be two or three weeks after that when it's finally removed from the account, but I shall go with 1st May to be on the safe side.
I have no idea what operation Joint Warrior is blowing up at Cape Wrath today, but the last three explosions were so big they made my curtains shake and I'm about 60 miles away :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
Wondered what the banging was ! Forgot that was on this week. Plenty jets buzzing about ruining my peace and quiet !
Well done with the OD ! Its a great feeling to draw a line under something like that.
Lands very wet here yet, I managed to get the new all singing, all dancing 4WD shiny red quad stuck today ! OH was not amused ... Even when I offered to wash it off ! Men and their toys ! Huh !Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0 -
There was a massive wildfire on the Melness peninsula last night and I think it's still going - at least, a fire engine shot down the main road at lunchtime with sirens and lights on, very, very unusual for here.
Busy day with lots of proofreading and a bit of work for Mr RPC, who dictated such a fantastically ranty email to someone that I messaged him on Skype with a round of applause! NEL sent over another two files for next week and asked me to have a quick listen to check I'm happy with the audio before accepting the job. Both just over an hour and both lovely and clear, so I've said yes to them
No change to the scores on the doors numbers, but only about £70 short of starting to pay off that last bit of overdraft now.0 -

Since the weather here this morning is (insert your own non-MSE-filter-safe word here!), I have a list of indoors stuff to work through:

Pack orders
[strike]Proofread 11 files[/strike]
[strike]Get started on next week's typing jobs for NEL[/strike]
Should keep me busy for the rest of the day

Not a bad day
There were only 8 orders when I checked, so I decided to crack on with the proofreading instead. Got it finished comparatively early and have done the first ten minutes of one of NEL's files. They're both over an hour, one is Scottish and American accents, which I've got loaded into my laptop and can do in the evenings if I need to because I find them easy to understand, the other is French and English accents and French is one I can sometimes find slightly tricky, so I'll do that one in the peace and quiet of the office.
I was going to stay up and watch the end of the Masters, but I'm yawning my head off and I keep crying at the Nike advert with Rory and Tiger, so I think it's bed time!0 -
No proofreading today, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I had 19 orders to send out, which I packed, then came downstairs to find I'd been awarded a job I'd sent a proposal for on Elance about 10 days ago
Only a 20 minute file, but I'd pitched at a higher rate than previously, so I was very pleased to get it and the message with it said there'd be more work available if this one was acceptable. It wasn't the best quality audio I've ever had, so I took my time, went over it with a fine toothcomb and got it back to them in the afternoon with only a few inaudibles in it. Fingers crossed.
The rest of the day was spent working on NEL's French and English transcript. I'm tuning into the French accent a bit more now and I managed to get 50 minutes out of 79 completed. Mr Minx has just gone up to bed and I'm going to stay up and do another ten minutes or so of the other transcript.
Oh, and the overdraft is on the move again
All April's bills are now allocated in YNAB, so I was able to throw £100 at the overdraft this morning
I'm still keeping it in round tenners, any extra over the top is being allocated to drawings for now. 17 days left, £790 to go! 0 -
New client was very pleased with the file and has said he'll be in touch again when he has more

I'm now turning my mind to the best way to extract my money from my Elance account. I can transfer it to PayPal for no fee, but it'll arrive in PayPal as US dollars and their exchange rate is always awful. I can have one free wire transfer direct to my bank account a month, which will arrive in pounds using a wholesale exchange rate, but NatWest charges £1 to receive overseas transfers of up to £100 and £7 for anything over £100. Any extra wire transfers in the same calendar month cost me US$5 to Elance.
I think the best thing to do for the moment is to forget I've got the money and let it build up until it's over £700 (or about $1,050) and then transfer direct to NatWest - then the fee is still only 1%. If I can manage to live without that money, then it's a nice big payment off the Halifax card
