As the actual business overdraft stands at £3645.75 this morning, I have phoned Barclaycard and done a transfer to that account of £3,500 - and only noticed that £579.16 is due to come out to Royal Mail tomorrow after I put the phone down, doh!
Never mind, it won't take me long to pay off £750-ish. I'm starting to YNAB next month already, I've nearly got the estimated eBay fees covered, then it'll be something to pay me with before working on VAT (MUST do my final VAT return) and next month's postage.0 -
Well done, Barclaycard, that was quick
For a wonderful few moments this morning the business overdraft was only £67 and then the Royal Mail direct debit came out. Never mind, it's nearly gone now.
Yet another day ticked by where I haven't got round to the VAT return - I had proofreading and work for Mr RPC to do and I wanted to watch the Budget as well. Really a pretty good one if you happen to be self-employed (abolition of Class 2 National Insurance and tax returns), low earning (rise in the personal allowance), live in the middle of nowhere (no fuel duty increase) and married to a whisky-lover (2% reduction on duty) like me, so thank you George. Of course, a lot of that going through depends on the Conservatives winning the election in May, which I don't think they're going to do, however listening to Ed Miliband's response, I fear that a Labour SNP coalition (since the SNP are almost certainly going to be the kingmakers in May, unless there's a big swing one way or the other) will put the economy back into a terrible state.0 -
Just think that will be the true reading of the overdraft soon

I hope so!
Got up this morning to an email from Mr RPC sent at 11.30 last night saying, 'Help! Crisis! What time you can start tomorrow?' So 6.30-7.30 this morning was spent on the sofa in my dressing gown with headphones on helping him out - my morning so far has gone something like this:
Panicking clients sorted out - 1
Sheep fed - 10 plus lambs
Shetland ponies cuddled - 1
Horses fed - 2
Small black dogs retrieved from beach path - 1
Electric fences forgotten to turn back on after climbing into next door to see if dog was there - 1
Number of horses I hope I still have in our fields rather than next door later - 2
Arguments neighbour down the road has had with the contractors clearing the drainage ditches so far today - 2
The rest of the day looks like this:
Orders to go - 6
Files to proofread - 5
Houses to vacuum now new bags have arrived (tried the Miele compatible ones rather than the genuine ones and they were terrible) - 2 (well, one house, one annexe)
VAT returns to prepare and submit - 1
Sage adjustment emails from last November
to put through - 1
Vegetable seeds to plant - lots
- and probably a lot more I can't think of right now. Time to get cracking!0 -
And what do you plan to do AFTER lunch ?? Seriously woman, Slow down, youre making the rest of us look bad ! :PIts just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0

Well, I didn't say I was going to get it all done
The orders got posted, the files got proofread, the house has been vacuumed but not the annexe and the VAT return has been submitted (bad news, now owe them just shy of £1200  - £286 for the proofreading/transcription and £895 for the beads).
As I went down to feed the boys this evening, they were both in our fields but Finn was leaning over the electric tape to graze as much of next door as he could reach. I opened the gate, intending to go and move him and turn it back on, and promptly fell over a lamb which was curled up by the gatepost, shivering.
Picked it up, put the dog back in the house and climbed over the gate into next door to see if any of the ewes (who I'd just fed, so were all up top) would come and claim it. It tried to drink from several of them, getting soundly rebuffed each time, and the ewe I thought it belonged to was running away every time it so much as took a step in her direction. So I put it into the walled bit in front of the derelict house and contacted the owners to let them know.
While I was doing that, Finn leaned a bit too hard on the electric fence and broke the tape. Mr Minx went racing down the garden to stop him climbing over the knackered bit of fence into next door, repaired it and switched it back on, much to the boys' disgust. By the time I'd finally finished feeding them and giving them both a bit of a scratch, next door had turned up to sort the lamb out - turns out the ewe was bottle-fed and just isn't that interested in motherhood (I sympathise!), so the lamb's gone home with them to be hand-reared.0 -
Oh lovely pet lambs, I'm remembering times when I was small, they were always called billy! Suckling on my fingers lol

Right, sorry, here we go:
Business
Overdraft: -£-4,590.00 / -£950.00 +£3,640.00
Barclaycard: £0.00 / -£3,500.00 -£3,500.00
Business total: -£-4,590.00 / -£4,450.00 +£140.00
Personal
Halifax card: -£4,930.00 / -£4,930.00 no change
Personal total: -£4,930.00 / -£4,930.00 no change
Grand total: -£9,520.00 / -£9,380.00 +£140.00
Starting to rattle through it now
I'd like to challenge myself to get under £9,000 by the end of the month, but with VAT and something to pay myself with, it's going to be squeaky. 0
