  • How old is the L200 you are looking at?

Hopefully newer than 2006, we have one older than 2006 and they all suffer with the same problem with starting on cold mornings. In 2006 they changed the engine design and so they don't get the same problems as the older ones.

We are looking at replacing our L200 this year as it is ridiculous that we have a 4 x 4 that does not start in winter which is exactly when we need it. It has been into different garages over the last few years and spent a lot of money and nothing sorts it out. All the L200 forums talk about the problem but no one has a solution.

We have been doing so much research into different makes we still don't really know what we are going to go for.

Hope you find a 4x4 before you need more hay.

Er, 2002 and we bought it! He did mention exactly that issue, but said that they've never had a problem with starting theirs, there's some switch they have that warms it and if you start the battery, hold that down for a couple of seconds and then turn the key, it'll start first time. Not so crucial for us, anyway, because it's never going to be used for anything time-critical and certainly never first thing in the morning :) Being coastal, we're a little bit warmer, if it's been working fine in deepest Aberdeenshire, I hope it'll be fine here. Mr Minx is going down on Thursday to pick it up.

Three jobs pitched for on Elance this evening, two of them transcription and one a VA. All one-off things that might lead to more work. Don't think I'll get any of them, having no feedback is a killer, but at least if I'm pitching, I'm in with a chance!

I've also spent the last hour kicking my transcription eBook around a bit. I now have an outline - five main sections, each of which is split into subsections, each of which has three or four points I want to make (still working on this bit, have finished one main section). I should finish up with 100-120 points and I'll then write 250-300 words on each. Et voila, one 30,000+ word eBook ready to be formatted and uploaded to Kindle :D

I guess they have put in the modification switch that can be used - the only downside is you might go through glow-plugs quicker as you are heating them artificially so they wear quicker.

Unfortunately we need ours most mornings so over winter we had to use my normal car which I then managed to get stuck in the mud!!

It will all be resolved in the next few months when we replace the 4 x 4.

I bet you can't wait until Thursday!!

Well, I can, because I have to get up horrendously early to take Mr Minx to the station ;) Assuming the snow doesn't stop me getting him there, that is! Actually, I may get out of it, because he had a hire car for work last week which they were supposed to pick up on Wednesday evening and it's still sitting on our drive. He's going to ring them tomorrow and say that he could bring it back down to Inverness for them on Thursday as long as they don't charge him for returning it with a partly empty fuel tank (it's full at the moment) - which would save him an hour and a half over taking the train down.

It's a lovely Sunday morning here, but the weather's due to turn nasty after lunch and stay horrible for the next week. The boys have had their rugs off briefly and Finn let me groom him all over, including his girth and stomach area, without even an ear-flick, let alone a shove, which bodes very well for actually riding him again in the not-too-distant future without getting launched into the middle of next week :D I combed out a bit of his mane as well, which is usually very coarse and thick at this time of year - once I'd got the mud out, it was fine and soft and glowing in the sunshine, this Pro Balance + seems to be suiting him down to the ground :)

Right, time to get on with the housework and maybe go for a run if I can fit it in before the weather turns (too full of breakfast at the moment!) No work through for my evening proofreading shift at the moment, which is a bit strange.

Woohoo, just logged into Elance and someone's replied to one of my pitches offering me a 43 minute transcription file :D:D:D:D:D:D

Normal Sunday night proofreading shift finished and so I loaded up the Elance file to have a listen - I'd been told the speakers both had accents, but they're so slight that they're easily understandable, the audio is crystal clear and just as a bonus, the subject area is one I've transcribed before, so know the acronyms. I've typed the first couple of minutes and will do the rest tomorrow, it doesn't need to be back until Tuesday, so I've got plenty of time to go over it and make sure it's faultless before it goes back - I'd like more work from this person!

All sounding fabulous and heading very much in the right direction Caz. I have a 2008 L200 Raging Bull and I love it to pieces. It's only died on me once which was due to a new fuel filter being required on an awful cold winter day. Cheap as chips to replace though.
