Lots of lovely proofreading today and the hotel came through this afternoon, so Mr RPC is all sorted for tomorrow.
I've got so much to do that I barely know where to start at the moment. My office is in no better state than it was when I shared the photos earlier on this year, my garden is in a state, I have a huge basket of ironing to get through and the house needs a clean (though I did the living room yesterday, so I can get away with the rest for a little bit longer!) Tomorrow is looking fairly quiet at the moment, so hopefully I can make a start on some of it.0 -
Have a good nights sleep and make a priority list. I've been feeling like I've met myself coming back as well
. Some times when we are too busy we manage to do everything but one important thing, look after ourselves
£250 shopping, diesel and any other spends
December 16- January 15 £345.06/250.00 -£95.06
£2 saving a day for christmas 2017 £0/£730
Total debt paid off before 26 December 2017 £3142.31/14,053.85 = £10911.54 left to go0 -

Ohhhh, famous last words....Have a good nights sleep and make a priority list. I've been feeling like I've met myself coming back as well

I managed the good night's sleep but didn't even get time to make the list, let alone get started on it :rotfl:
So, apologies for the lack of scores on doors today, it's been a bit bonkers. My working day started at 7.30 when I switched on my laptop to find a message from one of Mr RPC's lunch guests today saying he probably should have mentioned he has a severe allergy to a common food stuff - well, yes, that would have been useful to know in advance, but got it sorted out.
Today's proofreading was a bit of a nightmare, two files with lots of industry-specific jargon (fortunately an industry Mr Minx used to work in, so I have a slightly better hit rate on error corrections than I would otherwise) and they were both group interviews with strong Scottish accents. Two files that should normally have taken me about 45 minutes to go through both ended up taking the best part of four hours :eek::eek: and yes, I have managed to negotiate some extra money for that
However, things might be about to change on the proofreading front, as the agency has introduced a new pay rate for their non-hourly-rate proofreaders, based on the length of the audio rather than a flat fee per file. It's backdated to the beginning of the month and after putting what I've done so far for March into the new system, it looks like it works out as a 12% pay cut
:(:(:(:( Since I really can't afford to do that, I think I'm going to have to tell them on Monday that I'm going to go back to typing, as at 105wpm I can make a lot more per hour doing that for them than proofreading.
However, Mr RPC is also in the middle of reviewing his administrative and support staff set-up and so I've emailed him to say that I have more hours available if he would like to consider making more use of me within his business. I really hope he takes me up on it, the work's really interesting and he's my kind of boss in that he tells me what he wants done and then leaves me alone to get on with it. Fingers crossed we can work something out.0 -
Tesco day - I've dug out my Barclaycard Amex to use for the weekly shopping, as it has 1% cashback on it, thankfully I remembered the PIN. Then Mr Minx and I spent a happy couple of hours attacking the garden. I got two beds weeded and covered in a layer of well-rotted manure (well, around the daffodils anyway) and he pulled out all the gigantic hollyhocks and has nearly finished a stone border around the edge of the bed they were in. We've decided that if we can grow 9 foot hollyhocks in that bed (which are a pain in a garden prone to high winds!!) then we can probably have a good go at outdoor tomatoes there - watch this space....0

I may have been a bit hasty in writing off the proofreading work - I've now backtested it properly against my November and December invoices and both showed a slight rise in what I would have been paid on this new system compared to the old. However, both those months had an unusually high number of full proofed files (November) and extra-long files (December). We'll see what Mr RPC says

In the meantime, I'm about to go and turn myself from part-badger back into a brunette, so I might even get the scores on the doors done while I'm waiting for it to take effect

Bl00dy fantastic, well done you. Just catching up after my manic week last week. Sounds like things are going well. I'm glad you got some extra cash for the abnormally long PR file and hopefully the new rates won't turn out to be a pay cut.
Random question - do you still make your own soups? I'm looking for some inspiration. I have Aldi's carrot and coriander to try today - started healthy eating again.Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)
Loan 1 £1787
Loan 2 £1683

When I have time, which hasn't been for a while, admittedly. I've been cheating and buying the Baxters ones when they're on offer. I do love really thick home-made ones though, especially sweet potato-based.
Mr RPC would like me to be his PA
Not on a full-time employed basis, but certainly more hours, which is great
Lots and lots of proofreading today, mostly files of a length that mean I'm better off. I've worked it out; files under 45 minutes I'm worse off under the new system, files 45 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes I'm better off, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 29 minutes I'm worse off, 1 hour 30 minutes and over I'm better off. Will see how it goes.0 -

As the scores were late I'll congratulate you in a day or two
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
