  • Hello - not dead, just busy :D Mr RPC is abroad on business and the time zone difference means I'm getting pinged on Skype around 7.30pm with a 'Fancy some work?' which is eating into my MSE time ;) Since he is currently generating as much income for me as the agency stuff for February, I am not turning any of it down (and besides, I get to do interesting things like find out how to address a Princess of the country he's in if you're sending her an email!).

eBay orders are still gently ticking over. I am something like £70 short of having all March's bills covered, excluding any drawings for myself, so will be able to start building April's YNAB buffer almost immediately and then pouring everything else earned in March into the overdraft.

Slightly controversially, I am considering not putting anything aside for VAT just yet - the VAT bill, assuming HMRC agrees with my deregistration on 31st March, will fall due at the beginning of May, the same month that my overdraft facility renews. I would rather like to have the overdraft gone by then so I don't have to pay the annual fee of £150. If I have to pay the VAT bill on a credit card to give me an extra month to pay it, the extra whatever% HMRC charges for a card payment will still be a lot less than £150 and I shouldn't need more than a month to pay it off, meaning no interest charged.

We realised that the Shogun we were going to look at from Marellos is a 2006 registration, so would be £500 a year to tax, but we're hopefully going down there on Thursday to have a look at a Discovery that's £4,000 cheaper instead: http://www.marello.co.uk/used.php?id=447 - they have another older Shogun on their site, but when I emailed them today they said it had sold.
  • Evening :)

So how do you address a Princess in said country? I think it's fab that you have him so to speak. Also I would definitely do the same re VAT. I'm doing something similar myself but for a completely unrelated topic :D
Love the Discovery, prefer it to the first option if I had to choose.

    Hey doll :)

Rather disappointingly, the same as you do here - Your Royal Highness. Given he's in the Middle East, I was hoping it would be something more interesting, like Your Serene Grace :rotfl:

  • Day off from working today so I could drive Mr Minx down to Inverness to collect the mid-life-crisis-mobile ;):p This is not the actual car he's bought, but it's an identical one:

He is very, very pleased with it although my heart was slightly in my mouth as I drove back up the strath about half an hour behind him when it started hailing!! They did try to sell him gap insurance, which I pointed out he didn't really need given that a) there was no dealer finance and b) it was three years old so wouldn't depreciate quite as fast as a new car. They retaliated by saying it was 'Gap to invoice' insurance and if he paid them £400 in the next two weeks, if it was written off in three years' time they'd top up the £11,000 the insurance company would reimburse him back up to the £22,500 he paid today. I am still not convinced, but agreed to have a look at the leaflet - I suspect there's a big catch in it somewhere, though at least it's Santander providing it, who are relatively reputable.

We called in at Marello on the way, but unfortunately were unable to take the Disco for a spin as a) there was no-one available to come out with us and b) someone had blocked it in, had taken the keys with them and wouldn't be back for at least half an hour - we couldn't hang about that long because we had to pick up Mr Minx's car and then get home for the dog and horses. Shame, but to be honest, having had a look at it, we both agreed in the car that we didn't get the feeling it would have been the right vehicle for us anyway. I think we may need to re-think the whole 4x4 issue - Mr Minx has slightly shot himself in the foot by never letting me drive the Navara, saying I wasn't used to big vehicles and he didn't want it scratched, because I'm now looking at the Discoveries and Defenders and pick-ups he's asking me if I'd trade my Avensis for and just thinking, 'No way will I be able to park that in Tesco or the short-stay at Glasgow Airport!'. It may be that we do end up just buying a real clunker for the few times a year we need to tow and I keep the Avensis - I don't really want to trade it in for anything, if I'm being honest. It's about 50 miles away from 100,000 on the clock, it's pretty cheap to run and as long as I keep taking it for its annual service, there's no reason why it shouldn't carry on and do another 100,000.

So, you remember that I currently have 2.5 horses because I've been feeding one next door? She has visitors on Saturday and someone else interested in coming to see her if they don't want her, so will hopefully be off to a lovely new home soon :T:T:T However, she also has a little field mate, belonging to the same owner, who was saying last night that she didn't know what she was going to do with him once the mare had a new home....and I might have sort of said that if she doesn't find another loan home for him, he can come and live with my two :o:o:o:o:o:o:o She got him free to good home as I recall, so we'll probably have him on permanent loan if he comes to us and yes, I probably shouldn't have offered, but he won't take up much space and honestly, how could you resist this poking his nose through the gate at you every morning and flapping his top lip in an attempt to charm you out of a mouthful of feed?

Nice car. Even nicer ginger half-pint :D

I have a very similar one, though mine's a mini. She is adorable and really is no hassle, although she's now elderly and has EMS. (Sadly that means she's on pain management for previous Lami and is just being kept comfortable.) But I love her more than I ever expected to. She keeps out of trouble, wants a quiet life, never breaks or destroys things, and smells like my childhood, spent in run down riding school steadings. Did I mention I adore her?! You will be very happy with your new buddy, I suspect
