Sit-rep - just finished the proofreading, have had another 16 files assigned for tomorrow already. 34 orders to go, all of which are unpacked. Ironing still in a heap, stock figure not done, it sounds like we have a mouse or rat in the kitchen roof and I have a stinking headache!
Hopefully tomorrow will not be a total disaster.....0 -
Wow. That's some list! You also need a day off occasionally!
Thanks for the info on pm boxes.

Hey Caz
How are you feeling?
Those scores are looking very impressive and withs cores like that I'd be smiling all the way to Christmas so no need to worry that Nov's won't be as good
Sounds like a right pain in the rear for you wrt the roof/leak etc and an ongoing headache there. The roofer guy sounds like a good egg though so at least that's a good thing.
How are the boys and woof? What's the weather like up your way now, we're still really mild so far.Debt - CCV £3792

Well, I was hoping to have one tomorrow, as SSE are kindly turning the power off between 9 and 5 to take some trees down in the village (though if the last time they sent me a letter like that is anything to go by, it'll go off for 15 minutes at 7.30 and be fine the rest of the day!), but it appears I've been volunteered to go and sort out my mother-in-law's television which apparently we are in trouble for not repairing at the weekend, even though she forgot to tell us it wasn't working. I think I may need a big slice of chocolate cake at the Surf Cafe after that, though she's going to be out a lot tomorrow, so if I borrow Mr Minx's key and time it right, I might get away with it

Today's not been as bad as it could have been
Jo took a couple of the proofreading files off me, all the orders got packed and posted and Pete the Roofer came back to do the mortar and we had a long chat about ethics in business - he used to have 150 people working for him down in the south east, he said he wanted a Ferrari by the time he was 30 and he did it, but he's a lot happier now just pottering around up here doing roofs and building work by himself.
The boys are doing well, thank you
though Merlin and I are going to have a falling out if he carries on with his current bout of Donkeyness. Since he went over the fence on Saturday night, I shut them both into the shelter field yesterday evening with about an 8 foot strip of the ungrazed bottom field to give them something to keep them occupied overnight. M decided to spend most of the night alternately pacing and cantering up and down the fence line into the top fields and has completely trashed the top of the hill. When it came time to bring them back my side this evening, it took me 20 minutes to persuade him to walk the 50 yards from the gate to next door to the gate to the shelter field. I took him about 20 yards into the field, looked behind me to see if Finn was through the shelter field gate, which he wasn't quite, so I took M's headcollar off and went back to get him.
You can see what's coming, can't you?
:p He did a 180 spin and galloped back into the top fields, snorting in triumph. So I threw the headcollar at the gate in a fit of pique and stomped off down the hill to retrieve the dog from the beach, because she'd taken herself off for a walk about 20 minutes earlier. Fortunately the lure of supper buckets got the boys through the gate and peace was restored! Have to say, I might not be getting all of Merlin's supplement into him, but his feet are looking better already on a third of the full dose

Well, I asked Pete to have a look while he was up there and he didn't find anything, but noted that there weren't any blockers in the bottom of the box profile roof, so whatever it was just climbed up the wall and went straight up underneath. Hopefully it's left by the same route!
Since I may not have power tomorrow, I worked late tonight - got tomorrow's orders packed, my proofreading and transcription invoice done (£680+VAT), paid FedEx the VAT and customs charges on my last import and put a stock order through that I've been trying to get done for the past ten days but haven't found time. Fingers crossed that it's not off for too long tomorrow, as I'm not on shift for proofreading and can get a lot done.0 -
Well, SSE were prompt and turned the power off at 9am on the dot - I got all my orders packed and labelled, but was still packing the last one when the power went, so didn't do the posting documentation until it came back on around 4.30.
My mother-in-law was out when I turned up to have a look at the telly, so I let myself in, turned it on at the mains and it made a weird hard-disc-spinning-up noise over and over again, no response to any buttons pressed either on the unit or the remote, so Mr Minx went in after work and got her a new one which a friend will be collecting for her when it arrives at the shop tomorrow and setting up. The Surf Cafe didn't have any chocolate cake on
:(:(:(:( so I had to make do with one of their chocolate brownies instead
:D
I spent the afternoon sorting through my tools and toolkits. I have a list of stock, which is all going to be marked down tomorrow, and I have enough large jiffy bags to send out all the toolkits. Assuming they all sell at the marked down price, that'll be about £1400 in the bank and a lot more space in the annexe!
Oh, and I didn't even need a headcollar to bring the boys back over tonight - just stood on the top of the hill in the shelter field with a feed bucket in each hand and bellowed!!0 -
Sounds good re the boys and I would have been just as happy with choc brownie mmmmm!
Fingers crossed for quick sales on the knock down price.

I didn't take any drawings out of the bead shop in October and oh boy is my budget feeling it right now
Not just because I've put back the money I 'borrowed' out of the tax and NI pot to make sure I didn't pay interest on the Nationwide card, but also because the boys are having an expensive month. The equine dentist is here on Monday (£120), the farrier is here a week tomorrow (should be £40, although I can't remember the last time he charged me as much as that, but he did say we might have to think about temporarily shoeing M to get rid of an annoying crack, so if we do, that's going to be a lot more) and Finn needs both his stomach supplements re-ordering (nearly £200). At the moment, only the dentist is covered in the budget.
Ah well, Mr Minx is away for a couple of nights, so I can glue my nose to the monitor and get some work done at least

Good news, my charm bracelet order was delivered a day earlier than expected, so I have been sitting here all evening unpacking it, checking it and booking it onto eBay. I also finally got all the flatbacks listed, including the Christmas ones, and sold two packs almost immediately, which bodes well for getting rid of all 3,600 Christmas ones before Christmas.
Going to stop now, try and get my workout done, have some supper and then hit the hay ready to be up and at 'em tomorrow. On the list: mark down those tools I was checking yesterday, do my proofreading (four and a half hours of Scottish accents waiting for me), pack and post the orders (everything currently to go tomorrow is packed already) and then shuffle reluctantly down the road to the medical centre for a smear test.
Oh, and the boys were on a fresh bit of grass today and were total donkeys about coming in - both of them had to be taken for a quick trot around the manege to remind them that they should be listening to Mum rather than planting themselves in the gateway and refusing to come back to my side! In fact, Merlin was such a donkey that when I went to get their supper, came back up the hill and couldn't see him, I automatically assumed he'd already scrambled back over the fence into next door, so stomped over to have a look and spent five minutes castigating a grazing horse shape at the bottom of next door's hill only for a big yellow face to appear over my shoulder and ask me why I was scolding a gorse bush? :rotfl::rotfl::o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o In my defence, the courier had arrived while I was bringing them over, which delayed me, so it was 5pm and nearly totally dark
