All the cards are bar £1040 left on the Barclaycard at 6.9% life of balance. The business overdraft is at base rate plus 5.5%.
I've just had a nice surprise, it's actually £556+VAT! I'd done so many files that I'd gone past the range of the SUM total on the spreadsheet!0 -
Hi Caz! Well done on building up the proofreading and transcription - it's going well. What you decide depends whether the PR&T continues at this level, and also what you earn going forward from the bead business, so really it depends what your attitude to risk is.
I'm quite a cautious person especially when it comes to HMRC, and would be inclined to keep the tax due in the mortgage offset account, till it's due. But if you're confident you'll have sufficient funds coming in nearer the time to cover tax due, then go for it!
GQ xxIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Hi Caz
saddle looks goodAh the joys of all the weeding in summer. We have a ragwort picking party planned this weekend as the top field gets it every year although this year doesn't look too bad but it still has to come out.
Your proof reading is amazing - sounds like exhausting work but a profitable one.0 -
Still undecided about whether to throw everything at the cards. The invoice won't be paid for a week anyway, so I have time to cogitate.
The good news is that I already have £36 on my July invoiceI have four files assigned to me for tomorrow morning, which I need to fit in around packing up orders (only eight to go so far, but £80-worth) before I zoom off for my afternoon at the tack shop (where have the last seven days gone???) and then call in at a neighbour's on the way home to find out what I need to do re: cat and chicken-sitting for them for a week.
Mr Minx spotted some baby swallows on next door's guttering earlier, so I grabbed the camera....

Fantastic photos.
I'd also reduce the amount of tax you are saving - say 10% and use the rest! silly paying interest if you don't have to.Sealed pot challenge 822

2nd of July and the proofreading invoice is up to £64 already
I've made a decision, I think, though I reserve the right to change my mind again... After a bit of fiddling around with the snowball calculator, it appears that if I assume that I'm going to bill around £600 a month consistently, then if I continue to put the tax aside my personal debt is all paid off in 15 months and if I don't, it's paid off in 12. I have 14 months until my goal of paying it off by 40. So I'm going to continue to stash the tax and try to make up the extra month by other methods, but will raid the tax pot next July if I'm going to fall slightly short. Since all of it bar £1040 is now on 0% and I should pay that off in a couple of months, it's not going to make much difference interest-wise.
I didn't end up going over to the tack shop today, there was only one small thing she wanted me to do and it could be done from home, so I got that done and then spent the rest of the afternoon catching up with bead related stuff. I've still got a to-do list as long as your arm, but I'm getting there.0 -
Since the weather forecast for tomorrow was looking pretty horrendous, I rearranged my session with my riding instructor for today. I thought I had everything under control, all my orders were packed and ready and I'd done my only proofreading file - then two hours before she was due, I got a load of urgent proofreading work and a few large orders and it was panic stations! Still, we had a good session (this was my last free one that I won) - we went round the village to make sure Finn was happy with me getting on from non-standard mounting blocks, like gates, which it turned out he wasn't initially, but by the end we were both enjoying ourselves:
Do I win the prize for the biggest smile on MSE today??:D:D:D:D
I'm getting towards the bottom of my current tub of Protexin Acid Ease and the new 'improved' formula has an RRP of over £80 a tub for 3kg :eek::eek: However, thanks to a) the tack shop lady doing me a FANTASTIC bargain price on it and b) using all my loyalty points, I've only paid £36.xx for the one that's on order for me. It should last two months. Fingers crossed it works as well or better than the current stuff.0 -
Hellooooooooooooo Friday! Though I'm actually convinced it's Sunday because Mr Minx decided to take a couple of days' holiday. Have at ye, scores on the doors.

Nationwide card: -£2330.00 / -£2330.00 no change
Halifax card: -£5700.00 / -£5700.00 no change
Personal total: -£9070.00 / -£9070.00 no change
Grand total: -£18,280.00 / -£18,180.00 +£100.00
Another £100 nibble at the elephant this week. At least the business bankings just crept into four figures again (thanks to a healthy order from America last night!)
I've caught up with my proofreading invoicing and three days into the month I'm already at £88. Apparently it's so busy today that I might actually be transcribing rather than proofing, we'll see what I get assigned. Nothing through yet, I've got half a file of proofreading outstanding (the typist hasn't uploaded it yet), so I shall finish packing up orders (I did most of them last night when I saw the 'Help! Lots of urgent work!' email arrive from the transcription agency so I'd be free to take lots on today) and then wait to see if anything hits my inbox.

Oh, PS - the actual figure for the business overdraft, as opposed to the one I used in scores on doors, which takes into account everything scheduled to go out of it, is currently -£4666.53 - this is the first time it's been under £5k since I can't remember when, probably since I got the limit increased over a year ago. It's not going to stay there for long, because I have to pay a supplier £1100 today, but it'll make the bank happy to see that the average figure is going down.0

I ended up doing some typing yesterday, which made a change
52 minutes of file, so that's £23.40, plus a few proofreading files, but I'm on the wrong computer to check how many.
Today's been busy in a not-busy kind of way. Up early and managed to squeeze in a 15 minute schooling session on Finn before jumping into the shower and heading into town to take mother-in-law shopping and then out to lunch. I didn't get back here until gone 3 (Mr Minx dropped me further up the road as I'm cat and chicken sitting for neighbours) and I'm afraid that I simply unpacked the shopping and collapsed on the sofa until it was time to walk the dog and feed the horses0
