Yep, shame the Italy we'd seen during the tournament didn't turn up last night but the Spanish are worthy winners and proved they are the greatest team of all time.
I just hope it doesn't prove a bad omen for their economy like 2004 (Greece) and 2008 (Spain) have!0 -

They may well be the best team of all time, we'll never know for sure. The other contenders are probably Brazil 1970 and Real Madrid 1960. It's like Joe Louis vs Rocky Marciano vs Muhammed Ali -- good interesting stuff to while away an hour in the pub.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

I would have been more impressed if you had said that you had opposed Nadal.
The difference is Nadal don't have 10 other players to back him up when he plays bad. Spain on the other hand can have 3 or 4 play bad and still get a result.
When they all play well it shows. The result is living proof of that.
I can't think of 1 Italian that is better than their Spanish equivalents.

Very true.
I guess the winning of the Golden Boot by a Spanish player is a bit of an embarrassment for a team which espouses a playing philosophy without forwards ! Next time they will ensure this doesn't happen by making sure Torres plays in slippers.
In true Private Eye fashion then :-
Pre-2006 : the classic formation era
Goalie -> Defenders -> Midfield -> Forwards
2006 - now : the Spanish era
Goalie -> Defenders -> Midfield
2014->onwards : the Hodgson era (first trialled in Euro2012)
Goalie -> Defenders -> Penalty taker subs0 -

What are you talking about? The discussion was about the certainty (or otherwise) of favourites winning! Nadal must have been at least 1/25 to win his match! A classic example of a short priced favourite not winning!
Spain were brilliant and completely outplayed Italy, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the point that we were discussing, or did it go completely over your head? It looks like you missed the point completely!Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
If the Spanish want to win, they need to drop Xavi and put Iniesta into central midfield in his place, play Fabregas instead of Silva and use Pedro or Navas out wide, and finally choose either Torres or Lloriente up front.
Thank you and goodnight.
See.........I told you :eek:'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
