Yes, confidence is a dirty word to the British. Shame really, because if we had the German's confidence we might not be such a third rate little country.

Much better to be gallant losers eh? ;)

Overconfidence didn't do them much good last night did it. After lording it over mostly sub-standard opposition they were found wanting in that department, and every other, when up against a good team. As someone pointed out (Keown I think ) the arrogance for example over not trying to close down Pirlo adequately was very noticeable. German overconfidence has got them into trouble many times, and not just on the football field. They are now apparently confident that they can bully, bludgeon, bribe, blackmail, and b******t the rest of the EU into accepting their complete domination of it. We'll see.
No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Don't get me wrong I try to be the best (and win) at everything I do. But there is a huge difference between confidence and arrogance.

Obviously I can't win eveything I attempt but if I perform well that can be as good as a win even when losing.

Betfair were going 18/1 but by the time you take of the commission it makes it nearer 17/1 I preferred the victor chandler offer.

I'm not surprised your bet was much better value than betfair's price with no 'Spain win money back offer'. Well done, will you hedge? I imagine not due to the low price, good luck, enjoy your free ride, I hope that it pays off for you.

I may hedge if Italy score early other than that I'll let it ride.

Saying that the most painful loosing bet I ever had was I backed A.C. Milan in to win the European cup the year they lost to Liverpool £50 at 12/1, 3 up and I never hedged my bet.

    Really

I'd lay it off now and take my winnings, sooner have a certain 150 then a possible 400
So will I be shouting for them I got £25 on them at 16/1. Better still I did the bet with victor chandler and they're returning loosing bets if Spain win the tournament.

You mean just like Nadal did (not) on Thursday? That's why sport is so entertaining, it is not a movie where the baddies usually lose in the end.

In betting terms, sport is a weighted random number generator.

Yes I like that. You also used one of my fav sayings above, which I often use: Nobody ever went skint taking a profit.
